Because humans evolved as humans. Evolution is successful for a species if it manages to survive. Obviously humans have survived very well. We use our intelligence to do something about the cold or the heat. Wear more or fewer cloths.
No, covered with fur is not practical for a human. It might be fine for humans living in the Arctic. But would be difficult for humans living in the tropics. As you can tell the peoples living in the Arctic have not evolved to be hairy. They adapted to the environment by building shelter and wearing warm cloths.

Evolution,
Once we discovered fire and other ways of keeping warm animal furs/hides ect the hair which is present on all of us just very thinly was not the main source of warmth for humans and as a result over generations the body adapts to it's environment and hair is slowly thinned. And today is the hairless result.

I am going to give you the relgious answer not a science one--
Adam and Eve did not know they were naked until after the fall. They were clothed with the Glory of God and were not ashamed. So they were created to clothe themselves. After the fall they made themselves clothes because they saw their own nakedness. Their covering was gone. They just lost it at the same time they lost their claim to eden.

We do, it's just thin!
Actually, that's a very important question and there are several theories - one is that we lost our fur when we became plains hunter gathers - we needed to cool off quickly after running. My favourite theory is that we actually went through a semi-aquatic stage, and there is some indirect evidence for this - give 'aquatic ape theory' a google and see!

Because we started wearing clothes and no longer needed all that hair, evoluation.
(we'd save a small fortune on lotion but spend it all back on shampoo)
