I have done 20 years of research on the UFO and Alien Abduction Phenomena and unfortunately have learned that there are some negative entities (aliens) out there.
Not that they are evil, because good and bad are relative. Good for whom and bad for whom? But I have learned from years of investigation that there are negative aliens that do not have our best interests at heart.
They exploit humans and use their genetic material to create a hybrid race for a coming future Earth. A genetic mix between humans and aliens.
Others use us as food, in the same fashion we use cattle to feed.
But there ARE GOOD ALIENS, TOO!!!
So, not to worry.

I think hostile (from humans perspective) might be a better term. Rome was a hostile empire but could be very helpful to those that embraced the empire and savage and cruel to those that resisted. The Borg (Star Trek) think they are improving quality of life while humans are horrified by the idea and would rather die than be assimilated into the Borg collective.
Would we get along would depend partially on their civilizations development and if it looked at all like ours. Did they or do they have nation states, did they have wars, did they develop powerful weapons (nuclear or beyond), did they have an ecological crisis that they fixed or a disaster because they ignored it. There are so many variables that it's almost an impossible question to answer with any certainty.
However, I believe that even among hostile aliens we would have advocates for our side ( some people advocate for the Polar Bears and other animals on this planet). If they would be effective is another question.

If there were these evil aliens around us it might be more obvious and they would have most likely taken over our entire world by now. But the fact that we have taken so long to evolve into more highly technical and industrialized society also suggests they have been holding us back through some type of manipulation as well. Some people have also suggested that these aliens have only recently allowed us to have certain types of technology in exchange for humans for genetic research. I would imagine that these aliens would believe they don't really need our permission anyway. We are probably headed for another world catastrophe and these aliens know it but can't or won't control it. By not allowing us to advance is almost like a death sentence for most of us and keeps most of the human race where it is in this solar system. Sort of like a controlled extinction.

Well, studies claimed that sightings of UFO in Mexico long time ago, which its existence lead to the believe of such inter-galactic population invading our planet not long after that. I can't guarantee any existence of evil aliens, but i can say that there is always a possibility of alien in our planet isn't it? From the word EVIL, i can conclude that evil aliens will not get along with humans. Unless you are talking about aliens that are good. Like all the previous sci-fi movies, most aliens are described as a bad entity. They abduct humans to bring to their own extraterrestial planet to be experiment. I read a book on UFOs and aliens few months ago.
The content of the book is quite interesting. It is discovered that aliens once land at a mountainous region somewhere at, Xi'an, China. The archaelogists dispatched were later astonished to find stone tablets with strange writings engraved on its rocky surface. Well, some believe aliens are good beings that meant no harm, others think they are evil because of few cases on human abduction.

a good question.
the basis for a society to exist is to have some form of law or some form of order. In star trek you have societies where everyman is his own law and they do great things. that is probably not a credible event. creatures have to get along, if you look at the pecking order of any creatures, there is always an alpha in social packs. My little guy at 9 months old keeps trying to be the alpha and I have to keep stopping him from thinking he's the boss. (by the way, he proves evolution, realized that last night and I will post a question to that effect)
now with that said, if space aliens show up and have a sense of law and order, then you could say yes they are good or no they are bad. If they show up with the idea of everyman is his own boss, then we would conclude that they are probably good for if the society they live in was a "bad" one, they would not advance very far.
now, a traveler from a distant planet arrives. The could be merchants looking for trade, explorers looking to discover, or warriors looking to gain new worlds.
if our star was the size of a period on a printed page, the next closest star would be 12 miles distant. Without some type of extreme speed, or long life, the alien would die or have to have succeeding generations to get to this world.
while I am a fan of stargate, I don't know if we will ever push the bounds of light, or if we will find a way have sexy Carter traveling all over the universe though the stargate in search of adventure.
I have read a lot about UFO's over the years and the best minds in the field all feel that they are intradimensional creatures. In a dog fight back in the 1960's in which an air national guardsman was shot down and killed, the UFO took hits that exploded from missiles and the gun (type unknown) on the aircraft, while other missiles passed through the hull as if it were not there. The air frame had huge holes in it, and stunk horribly, the smell was not to be associated with the body of the pilot killed during the combat.
UFO's are not from other planets. they are spiritual in nature and have proven repeatedly to be dangerous.

I don't mean to answer a question with a question, but some other points need to be considered.
What makes the aliens evil and humanity good? (from the point of view of fish, cows and chickens humanity must be the most evil species ever!)
Why would they contact us? Given the size of the universe and the small amount of time we've been broadcasting and listening to the heavens, what is so special about our area of space that you would know to look for life here?
It's impossible to say for sure. It is only possible to conjecture.
And there's no harm in speculation and conjecture as long as you call it just that. Scientists do it all the time. The thing is they base it on fact and are prepared to put down the hypothesis if it doesn't agree with the facts!

Good and evil are subjective, and our views of good and evil might -more than likely - not be the same as the folks in the rest of the universe. Personally, I believe they're out there and are just waiting for us to grow past our "teenage" years. We still rebel against authority, family and government, we wage wars against each other, often over the dumbest things, and religion still causes some of the big problems facing people, as a group and individuals.
If we can't grow out of that, put aside the petty jealousies and hurts we constantly fling at each other, some unintentional, we won't ever know just what lies beyond our galaxy or even our solar system.
I wish us all luck in this, and hope we can get over ourselves before the end of the next geological era.

Good and evil are human concepts. It's unlikely that any alien civilisation would have similar ethics and mores to humans. So it's probable that aliens would be neither good nor evil, just very different to us.
More importantly, it probably doesn't matter if they're good or evil because we are very unlikely to ever meet up with them. The "Drake Equation" estimates between 1 and 10000 civilisations currently exist in our galaxy of a hundred billion stars. Current assumptions used in the Drake Equation arrive typically at an answer of 5 to 10. So the chance of meeting an intelligent spacefaring race around any star is less than one in a billion.

They look after us. They will show when the time comes. When we destroy ourselevs.
Also I heard that they (in all seriousness) are going to take the planet from us because we arnt looking after it and make human-alien hybrids and only keep a few selected people on earth for back up DNA. Hundreds of apparent abductees have this story. The rest of us will be wiped out. When I read this I though "Maybe this is true, but you know what? GOOD! We don't deserve this planet."
Anyways, I don't think this makes them Evil though.

Let's not judge aliens, OK? Let's ask whether or not aliens could exist.
Aliens could exist. If they're anything like humans then some of them could be evil. Given the size of the known universe, it's statistically probable that life exists elsewhere. However, there is no evidence whatsoever that such beings have visited this planet, ever.
