The secretion from the nose is mucus. That stuff which is coughed up is phlegm (sputum).

Snoticus maximus [ from the Latin ]. hehehehehe!
Any secretion from the nose or mouth that consists of mucus is just called mucus.
Mucus that is coughed up is called sputum.
Sorry, no special word for boogers, but a runny nose is rhinorrhea, and a bloody nose is epistaxis. Does that help?
Might get you some points on an essay...

a thingie that contains mucus and dirt that is near solid which you blow out you nose. or, if you are gross, you sit around in public and dig it out. yuk! maybe people should wear a little nose guard like society insists on people wearing pants. convention and culture. like some cultures permit farting and belching in public and others don't. just nature, but culture and "rules" over-rule nature in "advanced" civilization. of course you know that but, the thing is, i prefer that people not fart or pick boogers in my presence. i am conditioned and too old to change unless absolutely necessary. of course, you already know that. what is right and what is wrong. well, i guess the old saying about when in rome do as the romans do makes a lot of sense.

afterthought: i occurs to me that if you really don't like doing as the romans do, and you don't have to be in rome, leave rome and find something more to your liking. that can be a bind if your job and friends are in rome. i dunno. i moved to the country as life in the city has "evolved" (de-evolved) in the past 20 years. but i am rather isolated this way. a real dilemma.
