Most beginning workers using microscope use the highest power (magnification) possible. Experienced people learn to use low power (magnification) most of the time. Why is that?

When and why do you the settings to the diaphragm? (the knob at the bottom of the stage with five holes where the light shines through) Such as... why use the small opening on high power?

A sheet of gold weighing 10.0g and at a temperature of 18.0 degrees celcius is placed flat on a sheet of iron weighing 20.0g and at a temperature of 55.6 degrees celcius. What is the final temperature of the combined metals? Assume that no heat is lost to the surroundings.

Could you show step by step on how to do it. Please and thank you.

I have a 3 year old and a 9 month old. Occasionally my 3 year old wakes up in the middle of the night, crying hysterically and when I go in to comfort him, he stares at the corner of the room and points. My 9 month old has started freaking out for no reason in the room as well. Has anyone had an experience like this with their kids, and what did you do to resolve it?

I can't figure this dang thing out:

Assume the reaction of 51.47 g of Ge in the following reaction to determine the other quantities.

3Ge + 2N2 -> 1Ge3N4
moles of Ge reacting =
moles of N2 required =
moles of Ge3N4 formed =
mass of Ge3N4 formed =

I have ge and n2 as .71 and .47, which are correct, but I can't seem to figure out that last two. Please help!!!

I have done this but I think I missed a step. The grid is 4 squares by 4 squares for a total of 16 square boxes in all. How many squares can you get out of the grid? I think its 30 but I am not the best at math. I drew a bunch of grids and tried it that way. But, here's the thing that's bugging me. I did this years ago and I think you can actually get squares using a section of 3 squares by 3 squares within the four square box

How does this work out?

where x^(1/3) times 3x^2
(the third root of x) times (three x squared)

becomes
x times 9x^2
(x) times (9 x squared)

How does that work out?? It seems to me that it should come out to be:

3 x^(7/3)
(3 x to the seven/thirds power)
