10 answers

3t-2(t+3)=t
3t - 2t - 6 = t
t - 6 = t
-6 = 0
This has no solution! (And yes, that is the answer the teacher wants.)

If at any time that when you solve it, the variable disappears from the equation, there are two possibilities: no solution, or an identity. No solution is when we have a false statement (like -6 = 0). It is an identity when you get a true statement (like 5 = 5).

I hope this helps!

Solve for t

3t-2(t+3)=t Use the distibutive property - > 3t-2t+6=t
Collect like terms next. 1t+6 or t+6=t. Next you would subtract the variable from the right side, but here comes a problem...this solution is wrong, incorrect on purpose to trick you. XD I like these type! Lol! 6≠0.

The answer is written as an empty solution set: { }.

3t-2(t+3)=t
3t - 2t - 6 = t
t - 6 = t
-6 = 0 which is a contradiction meaning there is no solution. (there is no possible value for t that would make this equation true)

Their is no solution, because when you simplify the equation you get 3t - 2t + 6 = t

t - 6 = t you want to get the t's on one side so subtract t from both sides

-6 = 0
This is obviously not true, so t has no solution.

3t-2t-6=t you use the distribution property when there is a number right before the parentheses
t-6=t then you combine like terms
-6=0 subtract t from both sides
there is no answer this is impossible because -6 doesn't equal 0

hope this helps good luck

3t - 2(t+3) = t

solution:

3t - 2t - 6 = t
3t - 2t - t = 6
3t - 3t = 6
no solution for t, coz variable t is being multiplied by zero 3t-3t = 0t . . .

Technique:

In solving equations like this, if you are going to transfer one term on the other sideof equals sign, the value of the term will also change (if it is positive it will become negative) vice versa.

The work would be -2 times t and positive 3. The equation would be set up as t+3=t that would mean I think there is no solution is the answer.
