I read that there is suppose to be a meteorite shower [or something similar] tonight [August 31] or early tomorrow morning [September 1]. This particular shower only happens every 2,000 years or so. Please tell me more about it, do you have links for information? Also when is a good time to look for it in the sky in central California? I really want to see it [since I probably won't be around on two thousand years]. Please answer soon and thanks.

My answer was ~1000...but im not sure about the reasoning.
Could you please help me with this problem?

"A hard rubber ball, realeased at chest height, falls to the pavement and bounces back to nearly the same height. When it is in contact with the pavement, the lower side of the ball is temporarily flattned. Suppose the maximum depth of the dent is on the order of 1cm. Compute an order of magnitude estimate for the maximum acceleration of the ball while it is in contact with the pavement"

If so, it must be caused by the strain after a (good) f**k. We men are tired and very hungry afterwards. Do women get away with our male energy in fact? I tell myself: what the heck, let it be; after all they also have to carry new life for the survival of the human race.

ok, how many have seen the bourne ultimatum? at the end, matt damon jumps off a "10 story building" into the river, and swims away with no injury.

of course this is the movie, but in the spirit of having some free time on my hands (and a good mythbusters idea), would someone really swim away, or even live?

It's been awhile since I've taken physics, but here I'll try:

10 stories * 10 ft / floor = 100 feet. Let's tack 50 more feet for good measure (1st floor + shoreline?). 150 feet.

been a little bit since i've taken physics, forgive me...

We want to find velocity at the end. v^2 = v0 ^ 2 + 2 * a * (150) = 0 + 2 * 32 * 150 = sqrt(9600) = 97.98 ft / second

Time to fall. V / a = t; 97.98 / 32 ~ 3 seconds

now, do you think a final velocity of about 98 ft / second into water is enough to injure / kill a person?
