This would be a large meteor. Something may be around small pebble size. Usually you will only see a quick streak of white – these are grain of sand sized objects. You were lucky see such an event as these are more rare than usual meteors.
These objects often have the misguided problem of being called a 'shooting' or 'falling' star. All they are are usually remnants of comets that have passed though or near our orbital plane.

Sounds like it could be a bit of space junk coming through the atmosphere and burning up.

bottle rocket is streak then pop.

answer is meteorite. a good size one may be an inch.
Most are sand size.

UFO.....I guess...or maybe a small meteor that entered the atmosphere and then desintegrated.
