5x+8+3x-1x+5=6x-3 first combine like words on the left which you do like this: 5x+3x-1x (continually an understood a million in front of each x) +8+5 which eqauls: 7x+13=6x -3 you are able to now desire to initiate keeping apart the x so subtract the 13 on the left -13 -13 ________________ which provides 7x = 6x - sixteen you are able to now desire to get each and all the x's on the left ingredient -6x -6x ________________ 1x or x= -sixteen your answer is x= -sixteen

what the others are doing is "combining like terms" and getting the "x' terms" only on one side of the equals.
1. combine like terms on each side of the "="
5x + 3x - x = 7x, 8 + 5 = 13, so (7x + 13 = 6x-3)
2. subtract 6x from the right side and the left side
x + 13 = -3
3. subtract 13 from both sides to get "x=?"
x=-16
