Pregnancy - September 2007

Yesterday was my due date. I went to the doctor and he said that my cervix was long and closed. We wanted to do an ultrasound on Tuesday to see how big the baby is and if he doesnt come by Wednesday then the Dr. is going to induce me on Thursday. Anyways, I woke up at about 8:30 am with strong regular contractions. I went to the maturnity ward around 1:30 pm and they said that I am having strong regular contractions but it isnt doing anything to my cervix. It is only a fingure tip dialated (what is that?) She said that I am probably in "early labor" and she sent me home with a sleeping pill. That knocked me out and I guess the contractions stopped because I didnt feel them while I slept. I just woke up and they are starting up again slowly. What is going on? Is this the real thing or what? I live an hour away from the hospital so it complicates things a bit. The doctor wont induce unless I am dialating or my water has broken.

1 week(friday) ago i had unprotected sex and he did not pull out. about 2 days after friday (that night) i started to feel cramps in my stomach which felt like period cramps which lasted for 2-3 days.. BUT you see, i have an irregular period. i havent had my period in 4 months. . today i felt sudden little sharp cramps on and off. ive also had very bad headaches, the pain is right on my forehead. ive also been very tired, even though i have been getting a lot of sleep??
im also very gassy, like ive been burping so much..?

i dont know whether in pregnant or not. some of my friends say that i am.

i don't understand how it couldve hurt so much and then settled right down.

This really isn't a question, but moreso a rant. I'm more on the overweight side, and at 26 weeks, it's barely obvious that i'm pregnant. People never know if they should ask me, or if they shouldn't. It's aggravating. i think pregnant women are BEAUTIFUL, but i feel like i'm missing out on it.

anyone else felt this way? :(

I have a sinus infection and am very stuffy. I usually take a bath and put about 10 drops of eucalyptus oil in the tub.

Is this safe to do while pregnant? I am 26 weeks.

I am 11 weeks pregnant and haven't had ANY caffeine until now. I drank a glass and a half of green tea and now I'm very shaky and feel yucky. (I am allowed to have up to 3 cups of caffeine a day). Does anyone know how to get this out of your system?? Thanks!!

Im having clear/whitish discharge. Its not normal for me to have this. It doesnt stink or itch so i no its not a yeast infection and ive been tested so its not a std. Im not ovulating. I had sex August 17th and 18th but i had my period. But im cramping and im having this discharge. Ive been extremly hungry and tired. Last night i was smoking and i started throwing up and i never do that since ive been smokin for years. What is going on with me? Could i be pregnant? Please dont tell me to test.

During my labor, I was given pitocin to induce labor. After six hours my labor still wasn't progressing and I asked the nurse to stop the pitocin until I could talk to my doctor and get an epidural She refused like an obstinate child. My baby's vitals were perfect, and he was in no immediate danger. I feel like she violated my patient's rights because I have the right to refuse medical treatment and medications, according to all information on patient's rights I've read.

So my boyfriend just got a new job a month ago. He just got out of the military after serving 4 years and for now is working at a retail store as a manager trainee. So anyways when he started he told them that we have a baby on the way and that he wanted to take 2 weeks off upon her arrival. The store manager said it was okay. Well now i am scheduled for induction come this monday and he told them that and they said that he is on probation period still and they can not give him any leave besides monday and tuesday. Only two days! So my questions is is there a law in the state of CA that allows for father leave just like mother leave? I know that mothers are allowed to take up to 4 months off unpaid. In regards to him it would be unpaid of course to. Any input you have would be great, thanks. He is thinking about quiting if they do not allow him so any info would be great.

i have already tried all of the ways that i have been told except for the castor oil and i am getting really sick of the sex its more like a chore than pleasure to me right now. im not saying nothing wrong about my husband but it just isnt working. i have tried walking, taking long baths, sex, yoga, massage. and nothing is working i am 40 weeks now and i am getting really tired. someone please help.

I am four weeks pregnant and my doctor told me it was too early, even though a blood test and several home tests have confirmed. The office told me to wait until I was at least seven or eight weeks for the first appointment. Is this normal for a first time pregnancy?

I have had an abortion in the past and it was the worst thing I have done, it is a complicated story, and at the time there was a VERY valid reason for it. Now I'm in a very stressful situation, I know people don't believe in accidents, but gettin pregnant this time was an accident of sorts (my bf took the condom off mid sex - I truly didn't know).
I suffer from depression and I already have a 7 month old girl and a 22 month old boy. The thought of another one is too much to bear sometimes, especially as it's hard to motivate myself with 2 (which I do and I love them VERY much).
I am 12 weeks now, but by the time I have seen a doctor and got a hospital app, it will prob be another few weeks.
I hate this, what should I do??

I actually took two since the box brings two, the first line was very dark but the second looks faint. After reading several questions here I realize that a faint line is a line no matter what so that must mean I'm pregnant. Now I want to get a blood test but I'm not sure where to go? Do I just go to the local hospital, do I need to make an appointment, and how much will it cost me? I don't have a doctor so I'm kind of lost here. I live in Bronx NY. Any feedback people? Thanks.

Hey ladies, I am currently 40 weeks pregnant as of today! My due date and still no baby :( I went to the doc last week. I was 2 cm dialated, 80% effaced, and the doctor stripped my membranes. 4 hours later I lost my mucous plug. I have been having strong but not consistent contractions for the last few days. This morning I woke up with a bloody brown discharge(no odor), and I have been having it in small amounts all day. Contractions are still pretty strong, but they aren't coming consistantly. Yesterday and today I have been having loose stools as well. The last hour I have been having lower back pain and gassy like cramping allll over. I called my doctor and she told me that when I am having contractions 5-7 minuets apart then go to the hospital! The problem is...I am not sure if these are contractions or not! Ahhhh, Any advice??? What was everyone elses labor symptoms?

ok so my ob is a women and mainly because my husband is ONLY comforatble with a women delivering our son but i just found out that if she isnt on call that a man will deliver my son but my husband says no there has to be some way around it!! what other possiblities or advice can you give and i know my husband is being childish but he feels very strong about it so please no ignorant answers.....

The night before last, I woke up about 1:30 am to use the bathroom, but when I wiped, there was blood on the tissue, It didn't last long, only one time when I used the restroom, and there were no cramps, but it still scared me, because I am really stressed out over my husband lying to me about looking at porn, what harm can spotting do to the baby? And should I take it as a sign of a future miscarrage? How do I keep from stressing so bad, when all I do is dwell on the fact that 1) my husband looks at porn, 2) he lies about it, and hides it. What causes spotting? And should I be worried?

I've heard that when you go into labor, and you are in the pushing stage, that a majority of women "poop" while this goes on. Does this really happen to most women? This is my first child, and im 5 months pregnant... but i would rather go through the pain of a C-Section, then poop in front of everyone. This may sound immature, but come on people!

I had a miscarriage at 21 weeks. I started bleeding at about 12 weeks and the doctor said I had bacterial vaginosis. I was put on an antibiotic that made me very sick so was only on it for 3 days. The doctor said that should have gotten rid of the infection but never checked. I continued bleeding for the rest of the pregnancy and they could not find a cause for the bleeding.

ok i just had a baby 10 weeks ago i had a c-section. i just feel like i didnt get to experience childbirth to it fullest. my doctor said that from now on every baby i have will requier a c/s. is this definate or has anyone had other wise. i just wish that i can have a baby naturaly what can i do. anyways i dont plan on another baby for about 2 years.
