I most definately agree! No way in hell can you understand the meaning of sex and discover the person that you want to share it with that young! If you are not ready to have a family and deal with all the responsibilities, don't have sex.

I absolutely agree that they've no business having sex (hence the statutory rape law). Their schools have education and often will pass out free condoms, not to mention any number of free clinics, Planned Parenthood, etc. which are funded for exactly that purpose. Now Plan B is available over the counter. These kids exasperate me. We pour money into their education, make information about birth control available, and still they end up pregnant.

What bothers me probably more, is that the children of these kids are often raised by the kids themselves. Somehow, I don't think a 14 yo has the mothering skills to raise a dog, let alone a tiny baby.

While my thoughts are clearly stated above, I do not see any possible way to prevent pregnancy (and sex) that does not infringe upon the civil rights of the children. We cannot be China, where fetuses are aborted at 8 months because the parents already have a child. Where girl children are left at orphanages so the parents can "try again" to get their male child.

I use every opportunity, in this venue and others to discourage children from engaging in sex until a meaningful, serious relationship has emerged, preferably after marriage. I don't know how much more I can do.

I'm sorry, but i was a pregnant teen. I would never take it back i love my children. People put a name tag on young girls with a baby but unlike most of you think, I do not live off welfare, i took a course at home and it was an advanced diploma in applied social science and i have done certificate 3 in developmental psychology (child psychology) so i am not uneducated and i support my children with my partner. Whoever said that young people can't raise children as good as older "more mature" people was wrong i am living proof and every young mother out there that i know, do just fine none of them are on welfare and they all got outside of school education. So for you to come on here and keep this stigma alive is wrong, because not all of us leave our baby in a dumpster. I am 19 years old and have achieved so much, I have 2 children, Emma is 3 1/2 and takoda-lee is 18months and i am 6 weeks pregnant now with my career already there for me when my children are all at school. So NO i don't agree with you

I agree that young girls should not get pregnant.

Telling them not to have sex is not going to prevent this; they should be receiving complete and honest information about birth control, and the supplies thereof (pills, condoms, etc.) should be provided for free.

I agree that they might be too young to have and raise a baby, but everyone makes mistakes and when they do they are the ones that have to deal with it. People are too judgmental.

That is a great idea but how would you propose doing that? Sex has saturated our society and it is a shame. Nothing is sacred anymore.

And LMAO monkeyundermypillow- are you married??

And how do you stop teenagers from having sexual thoughts and urges? Sex education hasn't stopped them. All parents can do is try to teach their children to do the right thing -- it's up to them to do the rest.

And how are we going to enforce this exactly?

I don't agree with sex before marriage and certainly not babies before marriage but who's going to stop the hormone-crazed teenagers?

If you have a solution, I'm all for it.

Lock them up?
Chastity belts?
