Pregnancy - December 2006

I am 6 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy and we really want this baby. My obgyn made my appointment when I am 9 weeks along.

They said they will do blood work, a full exam and possibly may do a vaginal ultrasound at my 9 week appointment.

I need to know if obgyns typically check for a heart beat at the first appointment. If I knew the baby had a heart beat I would stop worrying because I am going crazy not knowing the baby is okay.

At your first prenatal appointment did they check for a heart beat? How far along were you?

okso i was raped.....everything is fine and im healthy and so is my son....im keeping him. the 2 men who did this are in jail.he has NO visitation or anything...but being 16 im scared.i was 15 when it happend.but idk how to prepare...im basically by myself because my parents think i was just having sex and im using this as an excuse..they never even came to my court hearings.but anywayz im working 2 jobs AND going to school for only 2 more weeks.im doing all i can...but if u have any advice what-so-ever...plz tell me.id really appreciate it

After a women gives birth to a child, how long after until her normal period starts again? As i have read that period stops when a woman is pregnant, so after she delivers when does her actual period start back and does the after bleeding have a relationship with the period or is it different? Is the after birth bleeding more than usual menstrual bleeding?

Im still kind of stressing out. Most likely due to all these stories ive been hearing. I had unprotected sex in september. I had my period 6 days later, then 38 days after that, then 42 days after that. My periods were never regular so thats pretty normal. They lasted 5-6 days like usual. I didn't really notice a different in my periods but im still worried. About a month after having sex i took 3 tests in 2 days but none of them were first morning urine. They all came out negative. I have recently been very tired. I use to go to bed at midnight and now ive been getting tired at like 9 or 930. I get headaches pretty often and every once in a while i will get really weak and want to sit down. Im going to buy another test soon but if i were pregnant i would be almost 4 months by now. I havent been sick or anything though. Havent gotten morning sickness and my breasts arent soar or darker. Do you think there is a possibility that i could be pregnant?

This is about women who had just given birth to a baby:is it true after a women has a baby, blood comes out of her at any time, she could be sleeping and blood comes from her, which has nothing to do with the monthly period?

I am 18 weeks pregnant and I have a horrible cold. My throat hurts so bad. I can't take it anymore. I tried calling my doctors office and the Nurses won't be in till tomorrow. Does anyone know EXACTLY what you can take when your pregnant for a cold and a bad soar throat? Please help!! Thanks

Do women's breasts generally become very sore when off of the pill for a while? This is my first month off of it and am wondering if I may be pregnant. I'm 5 days away from when I am supposed to start my period although I doubt I will get one because I had breakthrough bleeding for a day about a week ago. Anyone... have any opinions on the situation? Is my body just screwed up or pregnant?

I am really good at taking them but on the rare occasion I have forgotten. If I take it during my meal or right after I get a lil nauseous and really can't handle it. What do you do to remind yourself to take it? I even have an alarm on my cell that goes off everyday during my lunch hour but that's when I can't really take it! HELP!

I am at 27 weeks, 3 days pregnant with my first child and I am having a boy. Well my next appt is at 29 weeks since 28 weeks would be Christmas and my OB is out of town that week, I am actually out of town myself. So my 29 week appt is on Jan 2nd and it will be the checking for Diabetes. I have been told to eat/drink no sugar on that morning and it is also best to avoid it the night before just so I am safe!

Well what happens after the 29 weeks, since I have the appt every 2 weeks from then on? When do the internal exams that the OB does start? Does the Dr have to conduct an exam for every woman, and do the exams hurt? I am not a big fan of pap smears or the cervical cultures, so in this case what are we tested for and does it hurt?

I know that every woman is different, but I am really starting to panic because I am only 16 weeks pregnant and I have noticed that my skin is sooo itchy lately (the outsides of my breasts, stomach, and especially my back). After reading I have learned not to scratch because it could cause stretch marks. I have not noticed any red bumps, lines, or any skin abnormalities in the "itchy" areas, but I know that they just probably haven't shown up yet. Gold Bond seems to help cool and relieve the itching, better than the Cocoa Butter. Has anyone else tried this method and did it possibly help in preventing the stretch marks...or does the Palmers Butter seem to work the best>

My situation doesn't sound so bad. My husband & I both have college degrees. I have a decent paying job with health insurance. My husband is a full-time PHd student and makes a monthly stipend. However, we live in a metropolitan area where the cost of living is EXTREMELY high. We literally scrape by every month. We bounce checks every month, pick and choose bills to pay based on how much the late fee is, we have a mortgage that is over 50% of my yearly salary - even though our home is a very small 600 sq foot condo. We can barely survive now...how can we afford a child!? Also, where we live we "make too much" to qualify for any help but we just don't make enough to get by. Money stress is causing severe depression and it is making it very difficult for me to even be excited about the baby. I'm also resentful of my husband for being in school rather than working. I had to go off Paxil when I became pregnant, any advice to soothe depression without meds? Does anyone else have $ worries?

i dont know if the baby has dropped or not, and i have not lost my mucus plug. i know that sex is said to help ripen and dialate the cervix, but how much sex? its a silly question, but ive had
'false labor' atleast 6 times now in the past week and a half and my doctor wont think of inducing me until after 42 weeks so i am trying to help things along but sex seems to help start something it just never sticks!

My friend is married, does not work and is pregnant with her first child. Her husband works for his father's business and does not receive medical insurance. Can she get state assisted medical insurance even if her husband makes $50,000 a year?

I thought assisted medical insurance was for low income women and those in need. My friend is too lazy to work and she said she plans to lie if they can't get the medical with their income!

P.S. Its not me, I have crappy Blue Cross from my employer. lol

I heard it's bad to have a natural birth after a C-Section. I have had 2 C-Sections and I think im pregnant again. Will it be dangerous if I get another C-Section because I heard that they dont want you to have more then 3 C-Sections.
