I heard it's bad to have a natural birth after a C-Section. I have had 2 C-Sections and I think im pregnant again. Will it be dangerous if I get another C-Section because I heard that they dont want you to have more then 3 C-Sections.

I work in the OR as a surgical tech and NO you cannot have as many as you want and there is no known limit because it depends on the scar tissue from the previous c-section(s). If the scar tissue is too bad it will make it difficult for the surgeon to make the incisions, therefore, making it difficult and time consuming to get the baby out.

The more c-sections you have the higher the risks go. Also, the closer the births are the higher the risks are. I am scheduled for a repeat c-section in May, my kids were too close together to attempt a VBAC without a specialist. Yes, they told me to attempt a VBAC I would need to see a high risk OB. Some risks include uterin rupture (due to the uterus being weakened from the incisions), placenta previa, placenta accreta and also, high blood pressure, preterm labor and in rare cases preeclamsia. After 2 c-sections, I am positive they will recommend a 3 one. I know up to 3 are safe. I know three different women (my sister, aunt and friend) who have all had 3 c-sections and them and all babies are safe and sound. I don't know anyone who's had more though. It's possible they may recommend no more children, but they can't stop you. It's you to you and the risks your willing to take (as with everything including VBAC). I just never thought the risk was worth it. Even a 1% chance of something going wrong and killing my baby isn't worth it. More babies actually died from vaginal births than c-sections in the past decade (the difference is by over 40%, big difference), so I felt safer with it anyways!!

My doctor never told me when I could get pregnant again so now I'm curious lol. If you are planning a vbac then you would want to wait longer in between so you don't run a greater risk of uterine rupture. I would think 2 years in between the births would be fine. I am going to try and talk my doc into a vbac next time too although it is his policy to not do them anymore. I had a c-section due to a breech twin so there really is no reason why I can't do vbac. Good luck!

THey say that a woman should only have 3 c-sections in here life. So the answer is 3.

But if you look into the guiness book of world records there is a woman in the us that had all of her 11 kids by c-section. She had 11 c-sections even though doctors say only 3.

I'm a mother of 2, my first was a c-section and i had my second vaginally with no problems.

I also have a friend because of medical problems (couldn't deliver vaginally) had 3 c-section with no problems.

i would say it all depends of the women and if there's medical problems involve

I will have my 2nd c-section in late June or early July. My doctor has only talked to me about the risks of repeatedly cutting the uterus open because of scar tissue issues. He has not advised me however that I would only be allowed one more.

Unless your doctor told you specifcally not to get pregnant again after your last child you shouldn't worry about it.
