I've decided to pump and feed her from a bottle so that there is no nipple confusion and my husband can feed her also. I will not be working, but I think this is what I want to do... My question is... How long after labor can I start pumping. Will I be able to pump the colostrum or will it be too thick and not enough of it?

My daughter just had a baby last month. She asks many of her peers advice who have given birth recently also! So you could imagine all the advice she has been givin!! One told her that she feeds her 2 month old daughter 8 1/2 ounces of formula before she puts her to sleep..so she will sleep all night! My question is ..Isnt this way too much at this age..Not to mention causing problems later on? Oh the baby weighed 7 lbs 2 ozs full term! thank you!

How on earth do you continue to nurse an older baby? I've never made it past 9 months (and trying sooo hard to this time). Even though my baby is showing no signs of weaning any time soon, it's very frustrating to sit and nurse him. He is so busy twisting and turning. Biting and pulling. Trying to nurse in such odd positions...A little encouragement from the veterans of breastfeeding would be great!!

Hi all,

Any suggestions for good finger foods for a 7 month old? She really really wants to feed herself but the gerber puffs / baby mum mum rusks are making me nervous... and peas are too slimy for her to get her fingers around.

Other ideas?

I am starting my son on cereal tomorrow (he is 4 months and one week). Any tips on how I do this? I was going to wait until he was 5 months bc I thought it was better to wait but today at my WIC appt she told me I need to start now bc they can get diabetes later and all this other stuff. I do not get if they tell us to start at 4 months then why do they not pay for it until they are 6 months when they say it is better to start? Ironic huh! Also my son has cradle cap (I think thats the name) on his head. What should I do to fix that? Is that something I can do or should I ask his dr at his appt this thurs? Thanks

My son is almost 9 months old. I've never really had much of a problem with him falling asleep. I always tried to put him down drowsey, so he falls asleep on his own. When he has cried, i try to check back every 5-10 minutes, give him a pat, and leave the room again.

How do I get him to fall asleep, other then let him cry it out?

What do I do so I dont feel so GUILTY for letting him cry? It breaks my heart.... PLEASE GIVE SUGGESTIONS!

my son is almost 7 months old. hes recently discovered that he can feed himself. every bottle, he readily grabs the bottle with a killer grip lol. try and get that thing away from him, and you'll get it. my mother in law was over for the first time since hes acquired this new skill. she proceeded to tell my husband NOT to let him feed himself, as she thought it was cruel. he responded by saying she was being ridiculous. we're young parents, so she tends to be critical of our parenting techniques. we dont let him cry unnecesarily in his crib because hes not tired yet, we let him have his alone time "in a babyproofed space obviously) because we believe in learning independence. our techniques have worked for us. we have an amazing son. he only cries when he needs something (why we dont let him cry as a teaching method). we completely disagree with her. she says she never let her kids feed themselves. obviously, we're doing things our way but i want to know the opinions of others on this

For the last 2mths my 8mth has been teething he has 6 & his eye teeth which are said to be the most painful have been trying to come through. The eye teeth are very white & are only a few mil from breaking through. Could this be the cause of night wakings? The night before last he went to bed at 8 woke at 11:30 for a feed ( I breast feed) and slept right through to 7:15, but last night he went to bed at 8:30 slept til 11:15 had a feed and everytime I put him in his cot he would start to cry 3 times he stayed asleep on his side but woke after 20 min probably due to rolling back onto his back. Woke at 2:30 I rolled him over onto his side patted his bottom & he fell straight to sleep. He woke at 4am I did the same again but he was very restless even cuddleing him did not work & thought maybe his teeth were hurting so I gave him some nurofen and water &he fell asleep on his side & he woke at 6 I BF put him back in his cot. Could the teeth be aching more at sleeptime? Help

Hi , My two month old son has not had a bowel movement in around 36 hours, We had a dr's appointment today and I mentioned to the dr that he had pooped in over 24 hours and she said as long as when he does it's soft he is fine. Well he hasnt had one yet so I can't tell you if its hard or not. lol. He is breastfed so this to me seems shocking. The dr didnt seem concerned, but at what point should I bring him in if he hasnt had one still. He is eating normally and still has plenty wet diapers.

After the baby's umbilical cord falls off, is there usually a little bit left of it still stuck in the belly button? If so what do I need to do now?

That wasn't the case until 2 or 3 weeks ago. She takes just tiny portions and refuses the rest of her 3 daily meals, prefers the water instead of juices or milk (she drinks lots of water). I don't think is teething (she loves unsweetened cheerios). She looks very active, energetic and healthy. Is this normal? Have you experienced something similar? Any tricks to get more food into her stomach (I tried all I know)? Obviously she will start loosing weight. Thanks parents…

i went to he doctor today for my babys 3month check up and shots. she was asking about him and we were going over everything and she said "o and remember to keep him on his side or back while sleeping, cause that can lead to SIDS in a baby this age."
Well, just so happens my baby is a stomach sleeper... he sleeps so much longer and better but my doctor has me freaked out now.
what exactly is sids? any ways of preventing?

I know this is a dumb question. I was just wondering because you can kind of see his personal parts in the bath tub pictures but he is so cute. Is it inappropriate? What is your opinion?

I've given her tyelnol, also I'ver given her the teething ring. I have tried a few other things, but she just wants me to constantly hold her I can barely set her down for more than a min. I know its not good to always hold your baby and I dont but she is just miserable I feel so bad!
