Here's a link to a study out of Australia that says you should not do it. The angle can cause babies to become oxygen deprived.

Being in a semi-upright position for long periods can place a strain on your baby's developing spine so it's a good idea not to use the seat for prolonged periods. Long trips should ideally be broken up so that your baby can be taken out of his seat for breaks when awake.

There is also an increasing trend to leave babies in their car seats when they are not in the car -- in some cases up to eight hours a day. However, babies with gastric reflux are more likely to vomit in this position and very premature babies could have breathing difficulties if sat in a baby seat for longer than necessary. Even full-term babies have been found to experience low levels of blood oxygen if left for long periods in car seats and strollers, particularly when asleep.

Overall, there shouldn't be problems with healthy babies sleeping in car seats and strollers for a few hours at a time, but it's advisable not to use them when a crib or bassinet is readily available.

Yes, of course. Lots of babies sleep in their seats because they are nestled nice and secure, as they were in the womb. Both of my sons slept in their baby carriers for about the first month or so of their lives. Their doctors said it was perfectly fine. I ended up just using an old one and taking out the seatbelts for them to sleep in at night. It seemed, with them feeling more secure, they slept for longer hours at a time at night. Just make sure anything that may cause suffocation is taken out of the seat, and it should be fine.

my son slept in his infant seat for the first 3 months of his life at night! He had really bad reflux, and that was the only thing I could do to get him to sleep! My Dr. told me it was fine.

both one in all my youthful little ones slept of their bouncy seats for countless months because of reflux. those are extra reclined than the vehicle seats so the pinnacle flopping element isn't a mission. We used rolled up blankets on both area to assist help them, yet kept them down faraway from their faces. I not in any respect heard something about this increasing their possibility for SIDS.

I dont think it is good for them all the time it is just like us sleeping in a chair we like to be flat and stretch and our backs hurt well i would think the same for the babies. They like to be comfy too.

i wouldn't recommend this to anyone pick your child up and put him or her in the crib (on there back) there are times when this is acceptable like when your traveling but never at home your child will get to the point where they wont sleep in the crib
