Depends on the baby but about 2-4ozs every 2-3 hours. Let your baby tell you how much he/she wants, they will stop when they have had what they need.

What is it with the sanctimonious breast feeding mums on Y/A you lot really make me sick, I really don't care about all the thumbs down this will bring I just had to have my say. You lot never cease to amaze me, give the poor girl a break - maybe she can't breastfeed as many others on here can't but it just doesn't stop you from having a go does it! Grrr!

MY OPINION WILL FOLLOW, but had to say this first. COURTNEY (or however it was) are you only about 15? Babies can get formula RIGHT OUT OF THE WOMB!!! Your a littler harsh and there's no reason for you being a bleep! Shes maybe just checking where other babies were at the same time of her newborn, even think of that? Or that maybe her 11 days was a typo? Give her a break!!!!! Having a baby is hard and very sleep depriving, typos and forgeting ARE symptoms after birthing. Karma can bite and I would never talk to a new mom like that!

If he/she is only 1 week then technically they're only taking in about 2 ounces and will for a few more weeks. Don't give them much more than that because then it'll all come back up and you probably don't want that lol!

If your not breastfeeding then that's fine, it's best for baby whatever you choose. No matter what choice, your doing what's right for your baby! I didn't want the first answer to get you down. I was really emotional when people said that stuff to me right after I gave birth to my son.

Hmm, 1 week 11 days? How about 2 weeks, 4 days?
Anyway ..
I didn't give my son formula until he was 2 months, and then he only got it at night ..
At 2 months he started getting 4 oz. every 2 hrs. .. so maybe start the baby off with 2oz. every couple of hours (2oz water - 1 scoop formula) and if the baby seems like he/she is still hungry after a feeding, maybe switch to 3oz. (3oz. water 1.5 scoops of formula) and if the baby is STILL hungry, switch to 4oz. (4oz water, 2 scoops of formula) .. never deprive the baby of food, there is NO SUCH THING as over feeding a baby! If they are full, they will stop eating, or spit up!
congrats on the baby! good luck!

Breastmilk is still best for babies. But if ever you don't have enough milk to give your newborn then 2 oz of milk formula every 3 hours will do. You could also ask your mom friends for other information and tips because I sense you're just a new mom and still adjusting into motherhood. Hope this helps.

Since you got a complete bashing from others. I had trouble breast feeding my son, I tried but it was too painful I have been told that boys mouth are smaller than girl and there for they just latch onto the nipple itself easier, which is very very painful.

I have fed my son formula since he was 2 days old and he is developing just fine. do 2-3 oz every 2-4 hrs .

A great site to help out and ask all the questions you want from people that are willing to HELP AND NOT CRITICIZE!

2 ouces every time they are hungry, wich is most commonly every 3-4 hours. but all babies are different. just do it 2 ounces at a time, and burp him or her. when he/she starts having you make 2 ounces 2-3 times at every meal they eat, then raise it to 4 ounces, then make her 2 ounces if he/she wants more.
