After the baby's umbilical cord falls off, is there usually a little bit left of it still stuck in the belly button? If so what do I need to do now?

I wondered the same thing. My daughter's fell off a couple days ago. Hers too had some left in but it seems to be disappearing

That happened with my daughter. I used an alcohol swap to wipe it a bit. Don't irritate it because the area is still sensitive. Eventually it just came clean. At her 2 week check-up, her doctor examined it and said it looked great.

I didn't touch it once my son's fell off. But, he went to the doctor a few days later, and she just picked the rest of it out of there. I think as long as the residual skin is dry and not a scab, it's okay to pick out.

that happened to my daughter too. I called my doctor because i thought i might have knocked it off on accident! He said it was fine and to just leave it alone until it all falls off.
