My 9 month old is so hard to get to sleep and has always been. I'm exhausted and want him to sleep. He wakes up very easily to sounds and it is so hard to get him back to sleep. Sometimes when I think he is sleeping, I start to walk away and he wakes up crying and then sits down. I tried to let him cry it out but he gets hystarical. Sometimes when I go back in and lay him down he falls asleep but then wakes up again. He usually goes to bed between 9 pm and then wakes up at about 1-3 am, takes a bottle and then sleeps (sometimes that takes another 45 min) until 7 am. Should I continue feeding him at night? I tried not to and getting him back to sleep is horrible... worse then with the bottle. Any ideas?

I need some ideas on toys for my son who is 4 1/2 months old. I stay at home with him and he gets lots of attention. But there are moments I need to do something. Like right now I've been trying to get ready to go to the store and he's just whining. He's in his exersaucer with a baby video in. Nothing keeps his attention for any length of time, even a few minutes. I know part of it is his age. Is there anything that has worked for anyone or am I just going to have to deal until he learns to play better with age (and when does that happen)?

however my diet is not so good, I pretty much CAN NOT stand vegetables, and I like take out. The nurses last time said it is best to breast feed, so if I continued with my pre natal vitamins would that help, or with a poor diet such as mine should I stick to formula feeding?

SIDS? My baby is very active, back to stomach & stomach to back with ease. He's heads-up a lot, and starting to pull up. He's 6mo but I'm still terrified of SIDS. Could someone ease my mind?

My 3 1/2 month old son has all of these red spots on his face and belly. They usually get worse when he wakes up from his naps or night time. I have tried putting A&D ointment on it and also diaper rash cream. Nothing seems to help.

My son began sleeping thru the night at around 5 months of age. He used to get up once or twice and sometimes went back to sleep on his own or sometimes i patted his back to put him to sleep. In the past 3 days he has started to wake up at around 3 am and only goes back to sleep after I nurse him. He keeps crying until the time I nurse him no mater what else i do. He is otherwise a very healthy baby and has gained weight well since his birth and is very active during the day. Has anyone gone thru something similar?

My baby has recently acquired a voracious appetite. She eats and eats and eats. This morning, for example, she drank about 6 ounces of milk, and then ate an entire small quail, meat pick off the bones for her and a slice of bread. She's now washing that down with a 4 ounce box of juicy juice. I tried to play games with her and distract her from food, but she will raise hell until she gets fed. Bottles used to cut it, but now she demands solid "people" food at every meal. She is 10.5 mos old, and is not terribly fat. She weighs about 26 lbs, and is very tall and proportioned. She is very healthy, never been sick in her life. I am wondering if anyone has gone through similar things with their baby, and what do you do? Just keep feeding them? She eats more than my 6 year old.

My 11 1/2 month old son is still nursing in the evenings and mornings,. The problem is his "man-handling" of my breasts and nipples; he pinches, twists and tweaks and grabs at them constantly while breastfeeding. I know its a comfort thing for him, like when some babies have a blanket to play with while falling asleep, but my boobs are getting tired of being his plaything. I tell him "no!", and am always pulling his hands away from my chest, but it hasn't helped.

Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do to stop it?

I'm interested to know at what age people introduced solids to their baby. My son is now 21 wks and due to a slow weight gain my health vivitor said it may be an idea to start him on baby rice soon. Also, what made you start when you did?

Our 9-mo old baby boy almost always refuses solids served by us on spoon, and the only spoon-fed solid he'll sometimes eat is oatmeal. He just wants his formula, or if offered a solid like bread he might take it & nibble a little if he can grab it & feed it to himself but no way will he let you stick a spoon in his mouth. Give him a solid on spoon & he'll scream, cry, spit it out. It's no use. Sometimes he cries when just sees his bowl. I say just mix some oatmeal in with his formula & he'll one day be ready for solids on his own - the torture of being shown solids right now can't be good for him either. I know all the books say a baby should be eating this by that date, etc., but I tell my wife you don't see unweaned 20-yr olds walking around w/giant bottles, so one day our boy will be ready too. Am I right in saying don't worry & don't push the solids? (I'm kind of the same way in that I don't like new foods & am content eating the same thing every day, and I'm healthy)
