I hate it when people say you have to do this or that, especially saying that you have to or should breastfeed. How RUDE! Some people may not want to and some just cant no matter how hard they try.
Dont worry about your eating habits take your vitamins and as long as your baby passes his/her well baby visits. I wouldnt worry. I was the same as you bottle fed first decided I wanted to BF the second. Poor diet and all I just kept taking my vitamins. My baby is now a happy one year old healthy as a horse baby!!

You will definitely want to keep taking your prenatal vitamins no matter what your diet is. If you think that you have a poor diet while you are breastfeeding you will be giving all of the good stuff to your baby and robbing yourself of the extra nutrients. It's just like when you are pregnant...baby gets first shot at all of the good nutrients. Mom gets what's left. Don't let your diet stop you from breastfeeding. Good luck!

Honey, I breastfed my daughter and I didn't have good eating habits. Many people do it. If you want to breast feed, do it. If it doesn't work out for you, ween the baby to formula. My daughter was a very picky and lazy eater, so I had to stop at about 6 mths because I just couldn't produce enough milk. But if you have a healthy eater, you can definatly breast feed. You prenatal will help out a lot.

You can still breastfeed if your diet is not substantial but you will probably want to keep on the vitamins so that you will keep some nuitrients. Your baby will get good nutrients from your milk & drain you of some. You will need to watch what you eat sometimes because some foods can give a baby gas or stomach irratablity. It is not difficult to breastfeed. It is a choice you need to make on your own. Breastmilk is very good for your baby & you and it is free. Formula is good for baby but expensive and timely. I formula fed my first son & he is fine. I am breastfeeding my 2nd son and he is fine. I believe it is easier for me to breastfeed.
I am not the best eater in the world but it does not hender my milk supply.

Breastmilk is still best for your baby. Making women think that they must maintain ‘perfect’ diets in order to have thriving breastfed babies is an unnecessary obstacle to breastfeeding. Even malnourished mothers make breastmilk and can breastfeed their babies. There are mothers in some parts of the world who pretty much eat nothing but rice, but they are able to breastfeed. I'm sure your diet is better and more varied than that! :-) Plus, not sure how far a long you are, but you may be able to find ways to improve your diet before your baby comes. This is something to think about because you are going to be an example to your child about what foods to eat in a few months! I eat my share of fast food. All things are fine in moderation. Taking your PNV's while breastfeeding is a good idea if you are worried about the variety in your own diet.

Well I must be honest with you... I am not the greatest eater out there and I breastfeed. I don't really care for veggies either. Keep taking your pre natals and try to drink 100% juices and veggie juices such as V8. You baby is use to what you ate during pregnancy. Just remember if you try it and he does not gain weight you can always switch to formula but if you start on formual you won't be able to give him breast later on.

iMPROVING YOUR DIET WILL BE BEST FOR BOTH YOU AND YOUR BABY. rEMEMBER THAT (oops!) what you eat, the baby eats. However, the best of what you eat will go to the baby so it will be your body that will most likely suffer than the baby. Do everything you can to improve that diet. I know it is hard - I tried and had trouble sticking to it myself which is why my weight soared right back up once I stopped breastfeeding around the clock.
Talk to your doctor and ask to see a nutritionist to help you eat the best that you can while working with your food preferences.

Your body can sort out the bad from the good, but I suggest that you add more good to your diet. I love fast food to, and I have nursed two girls just fine. Just add a few home made meals here and there and it will be healthier than formula feeding. and much more rewarding. congrats on a great decision.

Iwould ask your doc. about the prenatals.I breast fed all 3 of my children.Ipumped breast milk and froze it for those times i wanted something spicy or hot .I would chop vegies up small and add them to Lazanga or in my mashed potatoes .That way i did not taste them .Breast feeding is the most important in the first few months. You will have colostrum not milk this helps the babys inmune system .To fight off cold and infection. Also you bond better with baby.So if you can get through thoes veggies go for it.Its verry special and remember you can pump and freeze.GOOD LUCK.

If you can breast feed do it. You don't know what you may be saving your child from. I breast fed one of my children and he is the only one without a genetic disorder and I later found out the disorder may have been prevented by something in a mother's breast milk.
