My 3 1/2 month old son has all of these red spots on his face and belly. They usually get worse when he wakes up from his naps or night time. I have tried putting A&D ointment on it and also diaper rash cream. Nothing seems to help.

The spots are like dry and flaky but very red and yes he usually does sleep on his tummy. I have a dr. appointment for him today but just wanted to see if anyone else might know what it is so i'm not freaking out anymore! They look like they would be sore but don't seem to bother him. Might be heat rash because since it's getting colder I usually cover him up with two blankets.

My son had strep throat as an infant and he developed a rash that sounds similar to that. Good Luck and I'm glad to hear you have an appointment for him!

It could be heat rash if he is waking up from his naps with them. Make sure the room is room temperature, about 72 degrees, and don't cover him with too many blankets, if the room is around 72 degrees, a lightweight cotton recieving blanket should be enough. Don't put A and D on it, it needs to breathe and cool off. Also my son had these spots, and they were EVERYWERE, it turned out to be eczema. Ask your doctor about steroid free Elidel, if he will not give him a prescription because of his young age. Go to www.freederm.com. Spend the $35 (I think it was) and get this stuff, it works great!! Its called FreedermHC. I read the other answers as well, I dont think it is yeast, Yeast other than the genitals in babies occur in the mouth and is known as Thrush. Oral Nystatin is administered to this type of infection.

My daughter had these symptoms. My pediatrician could not figure out what was causing it. I was using Downy fabric softener on her crib sheets, blankets, clothing and cloth diapers. When I stopped using it, she stopped breaking out. I also figured out that orange juice made her break out in a rash.

Sometimes you have to be your own detective..Figure out the surroundings where your son is laying when he wakes up with the rash. Then make one change at a time until you figure out what is causing it.

Good luck!

Check with your child health nurse. Most rashes are viral and will clear up within 7-10 days. Is he a tummy sleeper? Is his room/cot very warm? Have you tried sorbolene cream or breastmilk? Good luck!

It is probably just a heat rash or baby acne. I would apply 1% hydrocortizone on the spots.

What type of spots are they? Are they dry skin patches? Are they pimples? Or just discoloration of the skin?

Your details are too vague. I suggest making an appointment with his pediatrician and having him checked out.

My step-daughter's baby has excema on his upper chest area and face. The doc's prescribing something for it , as we speak.

If it works, I'll get back to you , perhaps on this site. I don't really know how to, so just watch. OK, amberoos?

I will just say, amberoos, Are you there? and I'll tell you the name of the lotion.
