Babies kind of have their own sleep pattern for a while, you just have to work with them until they get into a better pattern. All new mommies go for a while with some sleepless nights.

Put the baby in the bed with you for a while! It induces sleep for hours! When you are ready to get the baby out of your bed, put her/him in his/her own room with a fan and you get a fan for your room also. The white noise from the fan will help the baby to sleep and you as well. It will also prevent you or the baby from hearing outside noises, and if the baby cries, all you hear is fan. Sounds a little cold-hearted, but once they are old enough to sleep through the night and not be hungry or anything, there is no other way to do it. And besides, if you are getting no sleep, you will not be a very happy Mommy during the day for your little one. The baby will figure out to sleep all night. Good luck!

Don't expect a child under 6 mos old to sleep straight through the night. They are trying hard to double their birthweight by 6 mos and they NEED to wake and eat at night. When they do wake up, respond quietly to their needs. Try not to talk, or if you do, whisper. Don't turn on a lot of lights. Keep night time feeding quiet and low-key to help teach them the difference between night and day.

If you're having problems getting baby to go to sleep, try nursing or rocking the baby or walking around with baby in a sling until s/he falls asleep.

I definately agree that cosleeping can help the whole family get more rest! Check out the link below on how to do it safely!

Babies like to sleep most of the day, they are trying to adjust from the time in the womb. They tend to sleep alot for a while till they get use to the day light. When that does happen, try to keep them up around dinner time, and when they look tired, just give them a bottle of milk to feed. Hopefully this should do it. Either way, they gonna wake up in the middle of the night and cry for more milk. Good luck

Do your best to maintain routine and make sure baby is well fed. It takes awhile but your should manage to get hours at a time and eventually a good nights rest. When your little one is old enough pablum before bed worked for my son because it made him full and he in turn slept well. Try bath, cuddling, feeding then bed. GOOD LUCK!!! and remember all babies are different so what works for some may not work for others.

Car rides work very well, a warm bath with Johnson lavender bath for fussy babies works very well for my baby. Routine, routine, routine. Have a routine at night so that baby knows what to expect.. If baby is over 3-3 1/2 months its ok to let them cry. It soothes them. What I did is put my baby down after bath and feeding with soft music. When she started crying (which was immediatly) I told her "its time for dodo" then I would leave the room. after 2 min. I would go see her (don't pick up) say "its alright baby mommy's here" and leave. Go back after 5,8,10,12,15,18,20min until she fell asleep. Good luck.

Every baby is different but what works for my 6 week old is a nice hot bath around 9:30 PM and then a long feeding (if you are a breast mommy). I rock him for about 30 mins and put him to bed and I normally get to sleep uptill about 3 Am!!

One word: Swaddling!

We used a swaddling blanket called the Amazing Miracle Blanket and it has truly been a lifesaver for us! Most babies are comforted by swaddling because it is like the conditions in the womb (cozy and close).

Our son would go right to sleep shortly after he was swaddled in addition to being fed (or having a pacifier). He is 4 months old and we still swaddle him with the Miracle Blanket! His daytime nap is 2-3 hours when he is swaddled, 30 mins - 1 hour when he's not!

Lots of patience..LOL. Seriously, baby may have her sleep cycle switched around and that is not uncommon for newborns. At night, keep everything dark and any sounds to a minimum. Try bathing her, giving her an infant massage (lots of books on this)right after bath, feeding her immediately after the massage, and then rocking her (soft, rythmic rocking). I really hope it helps. Try it for a couple of nights okay.
Best of luck, you need your sleep too!
