A neighbour has just left her newborn alone for half an hour while she goes out. I'm pretty sure no one else is in there. Is this illegal?

She is getting bored of all her toys and to give me something to do (on maternity leave so I am at home all day) I thought it would be fun to make some fun toys for her to play with.

Any ideas on what I can make with household objects?

I have made a rattle with an old water bottle and lentils which she likes. I blow bubbles with dishwashing liquid and we walk around the garden touching the flowers and trees.

What else can I do?

Thanks :)

My son is 8 months old, and during most diaper changes he grabs at himself. I know that is something that nearly all babies do, but he does it really hard. Do any of your kids do that? He won't hurt himself, will he?

I always wonder if I can handle this and will I be a good mother for our baby. Is it normal to get anixcious or have second thoughts about things of this nature?

My son has recently started (just int he past 2 days) crying, screaming even, when I try to get him to sleep for his afternoon naps. He is not a great nap taker anyway, He is 4 months old and takes 3 or 4, 30-45 minute naps a day. He sleeps great at night. I know he's tired, cranky, rubbing eyes and as soon as I try to rock him he starts screaming. He did it twice this afternoon and only took a 30 min nap from 2-8. At 8 he didn't fuss much and went right on to bed. I say 'didn't fuss much' b/c he fussed when I held him facing me but when I faced him out he stopped and went to sleep while I rocked and sang to him. (which is kind of stange b/c I have always held him facing in to me) I know some babies fight sleep but he was screaming it even made me cry.I was just worried something was wrong. But he's only done it in the afternoons and the rest of the time he's fine and he's sleeping fine at night. Any advice?

She hasn't been sleeping! For 3 nights now she wakes up about every 2 hours and screams like she i in pain. She won't nurse or let me hold her. After about 10 to 20 minutes of straight crying she falls back asleep. I gave her some tylenol just now so I can hopefully get some sleep tonight. What should I do if she cries all night again tonight?

My 5 month old baby girl, Onica, born May 10, seems to be exceptionally smart. She is sitting up, has said several words, (Hi, MaMa) knows some sign language, (eat, more, mama, dada, dog, grandma, grandpa) and is pulling herself up on her hands and knees to try to get around. She is very sweet, and doesn't cry much. But she is given constant attention, with 4 adults in the home with her at all times, and no other children around. Is she smarter than other babies, or is she spoiled? And she is showing preferences for certain people at certain times, like bed time, nap time, etc. Is this normal?
