It's recommended that babies should be off formula by 12 months and begin to drink whole milk until the age of 2, when they can begin to drink 1 or 2%. I know many people say to wean babies from their bottles by 12 months of age. My doctor recommended weaning from the bottle completely by 15 months. I believe that the recommended amount of whole milk for that age is about 16 oz a day. (or two 8 oz. bottles). Hope that helps! My son is 16 months old, and I'm still battling with myself on when I should begin this bottle weaning process! Good luck to you.

First, they don't recommend giving milk until they're a year old(I've done it sooner though)or do you mean formula? That might be what they mean by no milk in a sippy cup, because of his age.
My daughter's 10 months old, I give her juice/water mix, or her formula in her cup when she eats in the high chair. I'd have her weaned off bottles now, but she likes to throw the cup when she's done, and it makes a mess. So, she still gets 2-3 bottles a day. If your baby will drink strictly from the cup, that's fine. 3 months isn't going to make a difference.
I've never heard of milk in a sippy cup causing dental problems. I have heard of not putting a child to bed with a bottle of juice or formula or milk. They sugars stay on the teeth and just destroy them. If you're concerned about fluoride being too high,(I know a small town in Indiana had that problem, all the poor kids teeth were brown), use bottled water.

I took my daughter completly of the bottle at 12 months and but I still give her the same amount to drink its just in a sippy cup you can put milk in the sippy cup and far as the teeth this happens when children constantly have a bottle in there mouths like sleeping with the bottle is not good the sugars causes your teeth to decay so dont let him take naps and go to sleep at night with a bottle but right now get your baby use to the sippy cup and when he turns one get rid of the bottles completly

As every one else has said already babies should be weened ...or at least started to be weened from the bottle at about 12 months old. It is not bad for a child to drink milk from a sippy Its just important that you start working with using BIG KID cups with lots of help from mom. Just remember it will be a mess. I recomend starting with water. Hope that helps.

I took the bottles away from my kids when they were around 1 year old. My kids had sippy cups with milk and their teeth are fine. Try cutting down on the number of bottles he has over time.

They should be using sippy cups only around 1 yr. Give your child juice and water also if you are worried about him having too much milk.

I weaned dd down to two bottles a day around 10 months.
Morning formula and bedtime (it was our cuddle time).
Sippy cups are just fine. They do not affect your teeth.
We started introducing homo milk around 10.5 - 11 months one ounce of a time. Finished at a year old.
Good luck.

all my kids and now my grand kids drank and drink from sippy cups and had no ill affects. I would check with your baby doctor and see what they say about it. and all my kids drank water with fluoride and had flouride treatments at the dentist and have beautiful teeth
