Yes, it's called an "amended birth certificate." Ask your state department of health for details on how to file for one.
Good going.

This varies from state to state. Keep in mind however, that acknowledging the child's paternity on a legal document automatically gives the father rights. If this man fathered your child, but wasn't with you at the time of birth, yet is back again after the birth of the child, you might consider whether its in your best interest to add him to the birth certificate in the long run.

why wasn't the father's name included on the birth certificate to begin with.. it is your child's right to know who their birth father is. Leaving out that little detail is unforgivable. If nothing else, you could have had the father's name placed in parentheses!
Perhaps now, you will need a DNA test, to prove that this is indeed the child's father.
Seems to me, people are taking pregnancy, birthing, and raising children a bit too casual.. sorry.

I do not know how it works in your specific county but if you contact your local child support enforcement office they can order state DNA testing on you 3 and after the results come in the state is ordered to change the birth certificate. - Thats a free option. Option number 2 is to go to a family atty and file for a legal name change; but this can cost up to $1,000.00 depending on atty fees, and court costs.

Marriage is not a heterosexual right. Marriage is a more legally binding agreement between two lovers. A form of marriage exists in every religion and every culture and has existed beyond gender roles throughout history and in some cultures even was incorporated one person of either sex marrying more than one other person at a time, and marriages between infants and etc(mainly for royals) I think allowing homosexuals to marry is a positive not a negative and as long as marriage is allowed between two consenting people over 18 years of age a positive and moving step that enforces good values in society.

It happens all the time now a days....go to the city clerk's office and they'll give you a form to fill out. It's best for the child's future knowing he/she had 2 parents listed.

yes it can be changed if you can provide enough evidence that for example the info on your current certificate is wrong. or in your case you want to change your name.
when chaging name you may be subject to a background check to see if the reason for the change is to avoid past crimes, court payments, fines etc.
