I'm not American so I'm too familiar with the traditions, especially something like baby showers. My friend invited me and she told me I could bring diapers. So, do I wrap them or put them in a pretty bag like for a birthday or would that be too funny (or is that what's expected?)?

Also, what do you really do at a baby shower? Is it like a regular hangout party or is there something special about it?

I have a daughter she is a month and 8 days old. I breast feed, thats pretty much the only way i get her 2 sleep is if i feed her. thats not my only problem, when she finally gets to sleep i will put her down in her own bed but she will literally wake up 5 mins later and cry. I know thier is nothing wrong with her, she just wants to be held because when i do pick her up i usally put her back to the beast because thats all she wants. she will go straight back to sleep but as soon as i put her down any where she will wake up and cry. Im reading this baby book and it says you can NOT spoil your child at this age. it also says when she cries she really needs something but i know she is ok if she can fall asleep in my arms weather im feeding her or holding her. ive tried lettering her cry but its so hard for me too do... do you think i should let her cry because this could become a bad habbit? I just dont understand why i have to be holding her for her to sleep. i get nothing done

My husband & I had chosen the name Kate if we have a girl (due in 3 months), but his boss and his wife just had a baby in July and named her Kate. We are not particulary close to them, but would it be weird if we used that name too? They work closely every day together (my husband and his boss).

I stopped breastfeeding my son when he was 4 weeks old bc his doctor suggested he had a sensitivity to lactose. After a couple of bad visits we switched doctors and were told that regular formula/breastmilk would have been alright this whole time. I know it would be confusing for him to latch on again, but I would like to pump breast milk for him to drink from a bottle, even if it is just a couple of ounces mixed with formula. My breast still leak every now and then, and if they are squeezed milk is expressed. Do you think it is possible to pump again after all this time?

Our one month old baby has suddenly decided that she wants to eat almost every hour. Her cheeks are getting really chubby and she is putting on weight pretty fast. We are going to talk to the doctor on Monday, but was just curious if anyone here had any information on this.

Several little hard VERY painful lumps. My mom said to continue pumping and massage and to use warm compresses. Not working and hurts really bad. Any advice? Should I stop expressing milk? Is this milk safe for my baby?

Does anyone know why they don't use rice instead of soy to make baby formula? I know that they make rice milk? Not enough vitamins? A Thai friend of mind said that they start kids early with rice soup. Anyone know?
Just curious.

When my baby was born she was on Enfamil LIPIL and she was doing ok with it..well four months later the wic office switches the formula and go to Similac Advance. She is constantly spitting it up(chunks at a time) well the doctor put her back on the enfamil but the wic office doesn't pay for that brand anymore. so the doctor said i could try her on the Similac Isomil Advance Soy Formula. What i need to know is .....is this formula good for my baby? any negatives about the soy? I just need some information on the soy formula..thanks

I have already tried a teaspoon of karo syrup twice a day and also tried to give diluted prune juice one oz prune 2 oz water. We cannot change her formula for medical reasons so thats not an option. I can't breastfeed her because I take medication for my diabetes. I really don't like the idea of suppositores. I don't know what else to try. Any advice would help.

I was at the mall the other day with my mother, my baby niece (who I was taking care of for a few days), and my own baby. We had just finished shopping at Penny's and on our way to another store when my baby niece started crying because she was hungry. Mom suggested I breastfeed them both in the dressing room at Penny's but I pleaded with her to let me breastfeed them in the common area of the mall on one of the benches. (I've always wanted to breastfeed two babies in public so I could show everyone I was a good mommy and also to pretend I had twins. It was so precious!) Anyways, one of the ladies from church saw me and walked up and said "I didn't know you had twins". I told her I didn't and that the baby girl was my niece ;) She then told me that I shouldn't be breastfeeding any other baby but my own because of some DNA thing. I didn't understand it but it really hurt me and made me cry later. I don't understand why this could be bad? Was she making this up?
