I always just used regular liquid or dishwasher detergent, (depending on whether I was hand washing or putting in the dishwasher) and rinsed items very well.
I also bought a used microwave bottle sterilizer for about $12 at a nearby used baby stuff store. It was great!! One of the best things I had!! 7 oz of water and 4 minutes (plus 2 to cool a bit) and I knew everything was safe for baby!!
Note: at an infant nutrition session we attended the public health nurse said you only really have to sterilize everything until baby is about 6-months old. Once they start eating solids at 6-months you don't have to worry about sterilizing the bowls, spoons etc.
Take care

Forget the cute, in-style, and girly things. Never mind all-natural, recycled, or organic. Go for the price. Babies are very expensive. The things you want are more expensive. More important than having the exact thing you want is having what the baby needs. Diaper$, bottle$, burp cloth$, diaper$, toy$, formula, food, and diaper$. Get the store brand, or Luvs, whatever fits your kid the best and doesn't leak. The yard sale is your friend for clothes. Get hand-me-downs as often as possible. I'm sure there's somebody around you that has a crib or high-chair they're looking to get rid of. Don't be fooled by things like organic or all-natural. They are most often buzz words, marketing tools to get your attention. Feces is organic. Arsenic is all-natural.

I used Ivory liquid when I hand washed. Otherwise they went into the dishwasher. Regular detergent, a good rinse agent (like Jet Dry) and I'd check them over before using for any residue. (Which meant boiling.)

You should go to baby a r us I think I spelled it right, but anyway. They sell lots of baby items like soaps, lotions, toys, food, shampoo, everthing you would need also you could try dawn. It isnt harmful to baby's but I would try the baby a r us store. Also try toys r us. You can also shop online too for baby things.

Boiling is the best way. I know it can be a pain, but you can also get a basket to put in the dishwasher and use the dishwasher. I used the dishwasher for my daughters stuff and she is a perfectly healthy 15 month old..

Anti bacterial soap.
Boiling doesn't kill all microbs...sterilzation does.
I suggest investing twenty dollars in a microwave steam stearlizer.
Wash them bottles with antibacterial soap and then sterilize.

Any kind of dish detergent is fine, but you should sterilize in a boiling water bath after washing.
