Does anyone know why they don't use rice instead of soy to make baby formula? I know that they make rice milk? Not enough vitamins? A Thai friend of mind said that they start kids early with rice soup. Anyone know?
Just curious.

Rice isn't very nutritious, especially for a baby. Babies need nutritionally dense foods, rich in vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats.

That said, it's pretty silly to use cow's milk or soy to make formula, too. They're two of the most allergenic foods in existence. I'd go with organic goat's milk formula (available in Europe) if, for some unusual reason, my breasts didn't work. Most babies who are intolerant of or allergic to cow milk can handle goat milk and it's just as nutritious as cow milk, if not more so. (Although nothing holds a candle to breastmilk. Human milk is optimally designed to grow human babies!)

Protein.

Rice is carbs. Once your baby gets older you can start to put some baby rice cereal into the bottle to get their tummy used to digesting more solid food, though the formula is still liquid.

I do not think it is the vitamins because most formula has vitamins added. I know iron is very important. do you have something against soy?
