I have already tried a teaspoon of karo syrup twice a day and also tried to give diluted prune juice one oz prune 2 oz water. We cannot change her formula for medical reasons so thats not an option. I can't breastfeed her because I take medication for my diabetes. I really don't like the idea of suppositores. I don't know what else to try. Any advice would help.

if she or he is on food yet feed him lots of fruit and vegtables...another thing is any juices that start with a p..thats what my sons dr. told me to do ...pear, prune ,pineapple...u can also take a themomater and put vasiline on it and stick the tip in to help...i was always scared to do that though i thought i would hurt him...lie him on his back and push his legs up so that his knees are near his chest that will help him push it out good luck

My 5 month old has had constipation since he was born. At 4 months we were giving him an ounce of Gerber's prune-apple juice a day without diluting it. He was still constipated but not as bad as he was when we were diluting the prune juice.

When your baby starts eating real foods the constipation will go away. Until then you are stuck with the prune juice or a suppository.

I have found that the combination of apple and pear juice works the even sell it in the baby food section. Prunes never worked on my son. But I would ask the doctor before I do anything this may be the early indication of an allergy. Good luck

When my daughter was contipated at 4 months I tried the karo syrup and it didn't work either. I was advised by a nurse to give apple juice. I gave her 2-3 oz. for a few days and it did the trick. Whenever I see she's having trouble i give her a little. I was advised not to dilute it until you see its working.

good luck

Are you sure she is constipated? When my baby was that age she only had a BM every 5 - 7 days. It wasn't until she was on more solids that she became more regular and went every day or two. But if she is constipated then here is what I found worked for my baby. First, I massage her belly. Do it gently and try not to push too hard. Also, when changing her diaper, put her legs up and, using you thumbs, massage little circles right in the middle of each cheek. Sounds weird but it works. Hope this helps.

Keep up with the prune juice I PROMISE it will work. Maybe just don't dilute it as much..or not at all. Sometimes it takes time but it always works in the end. And an infant tummy massage also works...look in books and online for the best way to massage the tummy.

i had a child that never pooped..... I gave her suppositories, that didn't cut it.... I tried the prune juice...didn't work... I was told to lube a q-tip and insert it...didn't work, you name it, I tried it... went to the doc, he said to relax, her tummy and bowels sounded fine, there were no hard spots like she was constipated so to stop with all the home remedies, she was not under weight or over weight, he said she was very healthy and to let nature take its course. He also said that he would put money on the idea she was using every once of food she was taking in... guess what, I wish I could make her stop pooping now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once she started on more solid food, not rice cereal, that is when she started pooping, she just used everything going into her body

good luck and try and relax

My daughter had that same problem and she had to be put on a Rx laxative after we tried Senacot {pardon the spelling}. Maybe more water. I know alot of people will say DONT GIVE A BABY WATER but my son's Dr {my son is 5 months} told me to go ahead and give him water at his 2 week check up. Constipation is caused because the stool sits in the bowel to long. If it persists ask to see a PEDI gastroenterologist.

use a teaspoon of corn syrup in an 8 ounce bottle of milk, formula or water, I guarantee quick results but prepare for a messy diaper. I was told this by a doctor when my child was constipated.

take a cotton swab, put enough petroleum jelly and carefully insert into the anus.....only go as far as either half of the cotton swab part or to the end of the cotton swab part. do this very slowly and carefully. While doing this, hold the baby's leg up (like if you were changing the diaper). After you do this, this the poo should come out.
