It actually sound like a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. She needs to only nurse off one side per feeding if this is the case.
From the link below:
"...babies may also have consistently green, watery stools and gain more than the typical 1/2-1 ounce a day during the first 4 months."
"...The underlying cause of the baby's symptoms is a disproportionate intake of the low-fat foremilk, the milk that is made available to the baby early in the feeding. When a baby consumes large amounts of this watery foremilk and less of the fatty hindmilk, that is made available as the feeding progresses, his stomach empties rapidly while at the same time dumping excess lactose into the bowel. The result is many times like that of colic in the baby.
Usually these symptoms can be relieved for mother and baby by making a few changes in the nursing pattern. Start by making sure that you allow your baby to completely finish one side before you offer the other by waiting until he pulls off himself, goes to sleep, or ceases to actively suck and swallow. Don't feel that you have to interrupt his nursing on the first side after a certain amount of time. It is much more important that he get the right balance of milk during the feeding than that he nurse both sides. If after finishing the first side, he does not want the second side, don't worry. He probably does not need it. If you are uncomfortable, you can hand express or pump just enough to relieve any pressure."

Jess,
If u watch the diaper changes u will see lots of different colors in time. As long as it's not mucus, diarahea where the baby is crying from pain of it coming out, and there is no fever. Your baby is gaining weight, things are ok.
Take a simple notebook and keep a log of when u feed and when the baby is having a bowel/pee. If u breastfeeding, the baby bowels will kinda match what u eat. It can be a good tool of what foods cause the baby problems. Either really gassy or explosive bowels Plus your baby is still fairly newborn stage. It has to get out all the stuff in his/her system from the birth process. Like adults when u eat iron rich foods, your own bowel movement will turn green too. Talk with your baby doctor or nurse, let them help u educate yourself. No one knows it all. It's ok to ask alot of questions.
Hope this link helps reassure u or whoever u asking for.

I have a one year old and i was freaked out when it happened with him, but it doesn't mean anything. once the digestive sytem begins to mature the bowl movment color will change to green and pretty much stay that way for now on. (unless of course when you start feeding him solids you give him carrots....then it will be orange which is normal too.) anywho, don't worry so much about the color. it's consistancy that's really important. as long as they are coming out easily i'm sure he's fine. read what to expect in the first year. or dr. spocks guid to baby and child care. dr. spock has become my new bible. hope i helped!

Ah the many colors of baby poop. Green usually indicates presence of iron. You probably just ate something with more iron than usual. But it's nothing to worry about. Anything in the yellow-green-brown range is perfectly normal.

It changes from birth on. There is a build up of meconium and after a few weeks the poopies start to look different. Call the pediatrician to make sure, but I believe all is fine. Good luck!

It happens. Over the next two years, I guarantee you'll see a rainbow of different colors in diapers. Just wait until you give your child grape juice and it turns their poop bright blue/green! Weird!

as long as there is no change in your baby's mood you are fine. the baby's digestive system is still changing. as long as it is coming out and it is not runny that is a great sign. it will be mushy but as long as it is not like pee you doing great. by the way i breast fed as well two of my children and their bm changed several different colors before i weened them. and congrats breast feeding is the best way to go. good job mom!!!!

Could be something they ate. Think about any different colored foods they ate, like ones with dyes in them. Or he could be sick. Think about the foods and if you can't come up with any, call your pediatrician. Always better to be safe than sorry.
