Newborn & Baby - September 2006

Hi. Our daughter was born on Aug 9, 2006. I was 29 weeks pregnant. She weighed 2lbs 12ounces. She is now 6 weeks old or 35weeks gestational age. She has not stooled in over 24 hours. I was just wondering how often she should stool and if there's anything I can do to help her? She acts like she tries and she passes very smelly gas all day, but no stool. I called the hospital NICU where she has been the past 6 weeks (we were just discharged yesterday) but they said they couldn't tell me anything because we've been discharged. Serious answers only please? Thanks! Oh and she is getting some breast milk and some formula too.

We have a name for our baby girl but can't decide how to spell it, so it can be a little different. So which one? Analyss Celeste Martinez or Analyse Celeste Martinez, we rather change the "i" to a "y"

My daughter is 7 months and has been through all the orange vegetables and fruits (will not eat green veggies at this point!). Her doctor never specified and I am a first time mom and have not read anything about this. When can she start stage 2 baby foods and when can she have meat??

I tried peas a month ago and she spit up green stuff all over me! I figured it was due to gas because she let out a big burp afterwards. So today we tried again and she made grossed out faces for the first tastes, then when she got a spoonful she gagged and threw up a little?! Could she just really not like peas or could she be allergic? I know that might be a stupid question but her doctor never specified how to tell if a baby is allergic when starting solids? Should I just cut these out of her diet and try again after another month or so? What other green veggie baby foods can I let her try?

My son is 13 months old and I am having a hard time getting him to drink enough. He eats solid meals well, but will hardly drink anything. A typical day he will have 2 seven ounce bottles.(we are trying to wean him from the bottle) and will only drink maybe one ounce or two at each meal from a sippy cup. He hates whole milk, and will only drink juice or water from the sippy. The doctor does not want him to have more than a glass of juice a day. It is also a struggle to get him to drink a bottle (always has been) so it isn't like he is attatched to his bottle. Any suggestions to help him drink more? I am worried about him getting dehydrated.

and you go to change their diaper and see they have a rash, but the mom only brought diapers and left no other instruction, would you just clean the baby, change the diaper? Or, apply a barrier cream or powder? I keep A&D, Johnsons medicated powder, Desitin, and Dr.Smiths ointments for my baby girl. She tolerates them all well, and they all work for her. Which one would be the least likey to irritate this kid? I used a sparing sprinkle of powder on him, because I was afraid of using a cream. But he needs something BAD better than that. I tried to call the mom, but the cell is off.

Forget what you are going to find on-line. What is the true meaning of the name Nicole. I am under the understanding it means "one who cry's"

In other words a whiner maybe? Why would anyone name their kid this?

Ever since my baby was born, O has slept with me or in my arms. Well she is getting too old for that, and I need to train her to have a nap in the afternoon..preferably from 1-3 or 3-4 or 3-5, I have no clue! So today, I put her in bed at 2:30 after feeding her she had fallen asleep, so she slept for 10 min. and then she woke up and cried for 30 min. so i went to the crib and picked her up and put her in her swing, you'd think she'd get tired, and she rocked for another 15 screaming minutes...so in a total she cried 50 min, and she's still wide awake, and has no sign of sleeping. She is watching Oprah in the living room right now, and laying on the floor. How long does it take a baby to stop crying, or cry themselves to sleep? She made no sign of slowing down. and I need to get her into her crib at night too. Any tips or advice from parents who've been through it before?

My 11 month old is so clingy to me, it's driving me crazy! He is not mobile yet, so if I put him down he cries and whinges until I pick him up. If he is in his walker, he will chase me around everywhere I go and scream if I even leave the room for a minute. I hate seing him so unhappy, but I can't be holding him all the time. The only time I get anything done is when he is asleep! Any tips mums?

My 11 month old baby is no where near crawling, he hates being put on his tummy and cries constantly until I pick him up. He is my 3rd child and I worry because his brother and sister were crawling before 7 months. He can walk in his walker but wont pull himself up on furniture or go from a sitting position to lying down or rolling. I have taken him to pediatricians and they have ruled out any disorders by blood tests, even though he is smaller than most his age.
Is this unusual that he is not crawling by this stage? Are there any tips to encourage him to play on his tummy and learn to crawl????

How many other parents co-sleep? Do you find that your child sleeps much longer than when alone? How long did you co-sleep for? Was it an easy transition from bed to crib?

I just recently started transitioning my 2 month old daughter from my bed to crib and she doesn't seem to really care at all. I think it was much easier on me with all the middle of the night feedings to have her there with me and, I never felt at all that me or my husband put her in any kind of danger at all. The moment she hit the bed I told my husband to be careful she was with us, the minute he moved around I was awake to make sure that he kept his distance from her it was like my maternal senses were so intune, was it like that for any other co-sleepers?
