I agree with hotmama - sounds like eczema. My son has it too and his started the same way you described. Then it spread to his arms, legs, back and tummy. Have your doc take a look first though. We can't let his skin touch ANYTHING with fragrance in it or he will break out. We accidentally used a fabric softener sheet on his clothes once, poor thing was so miserable. Aveeno products work really well for us. If it is eczema, don't bathe her every day, and keep baths short and not too warm. Try not to use soap if you don't really need it (it's too drying). Put a humidifier in her room and in any room she spends most of her time in. Hope this helps.

After a baby is born, most of them get what is called baby acne.... Baby acne is very common. It can be present at birth, but more often it shows up after a couple of weeks, usually on the cheeks and sometimes on the forehead, chin, and even the back. These small whiteheads might be surrounded by reddish skin, and they can become more pronounced when your baby is hot or fussy, or if his skin is irritated by saliva, spit-up milk, or fabric that's been washed in strong detergent.
By the way, if your baby had tiny bumps on his face at birth that disappeared within two weeks, these are called milia and are unrelated to acne. If his breakout looks more rashy or scaly than pimply, or if it appears elsewhere on his body, he may have another condition, such as cradle cap or eczema.
What could be causing my baby's acne?
As with adolescent acne, there's no clear answer. For some time, experts have pointed to the hormones your baby received from you at the end of pregnancy as a cause of baby acne. But researchers continue to study other factors and have yet to agree on one culprit. If you take certain medications while nursing, for example, or if your baby takes certain medications, they can trigger baby acne.
How long will it last?
Baby acne usually clears up within a few weeks.

It's probably baby acne or a heat rash. Both are normal during this time as the hormones during pregnancy are traveling through your child. It usually clears up on it's own. What you can do if it still worries you is clean her face with just water & a rag (because soaps can irritate it more). If baby starts trying to scratch at it, then you might want to see a doctor. My baby had baby acne. After it left she had dry skin where the acne used to be.

My daughter developed infant acne about 4-5 weeks. Unfortunately there isn't really anything you can do about it. Aquaphor ointment seemed to help the dry patches, but baby lotions and oils made it worse. It just goes away on its own, but sometimes not for a couple of months. It looks way worse than it is. I'd show your pediatrician at the next visit, but I wouldn't be concerned about it unless they child develops a fever or unusual behavior.

Sounds like eczema. My 14mth old has had it since birth. It is extremely sensitive dry skin.We use a plain soap on him.No baby bath only baby shampoo. No baby lotion only Eucerin or Lubriderm. His doctor gave us prescrition hydrocortizone for the rash.I would'nt put anything on her face.My son is so sensitive that anything even a blanket that touches his face will make it break out. When he was a newborn his face pretty much stayed that way. With eczema you should make sure the skin stays moist as possible with lotion. She is so young that you may want to talk to your doctor before using anything on her.

If it is only on the face/neck/and a bit on the back and upper chest it is most likely baby-acnee. It usually comes on at 3 weeks and goes away by 10 to 12 weeks. My 8 month old had that. She developed it at 3 weeks and went away by 8 weeks. Don't do anything to it. Just wash her face once daily with mild soap and water. This condition is faily common and due to the mom's (your) hormones passing on to her during late pregnancy. Don't worry it's only cosmetic.....and congratulations on your baby!!!

If she is not running a fever or showing signs of illness it could be a contact dermatitis - meaning from soap or lotion or something irritating her skin. Call your pediatrician and ask about it but it is probably nothing and will clear up in a fewmore days.

Babies get little bumps on their face. Just put a little lotion on it. If that doesn't help get the baby bath products for Excema...soaps, lotions, etc. This may help. If that doesn't help either, contact her doctor.

Have you daughter get acne yet. I don't remember the age, but I know it is around that age. My son had it. Have your doctor check it out just to make sure.
