babies do not come with blue prints
all babies will not go to sleep as easily as some
regardless of if you feed them first
change them first
bathe them first
sing to them first
from what I have read and experienced
keeping a solid routine helps
letting the cry for a bit so they are not distressed
go into the room to make sure they are okay
but do not pick them up
sometimes they cry simply because they do not know that you will return
they must learn to trust
this is an important part of their development
so start with 3 mins
then check on them
the next night wait a bit longer
by the third night the baby will begin to understand that they must go to bed
mommy or daddy is still here
and I can cry all I want and she is not going to give in
so hmmmm i might as well sleep

Are you crying or is the baby? ;)
Babies cry for a reason. They can't talk to express their needs so they cry and it's up to us to figure out what need needs to be provided for.
Baby's sleep when they are tired. Maybe your baby isn't tired but still has other unfulfilled needs.
Without having any more information about the problem this is the best I can do.

Depends on how old the baby is. You didn't say.
Usually, having a good bedtime routine helps. A warm bath, a clean diaper, a feeding, and a swaddling plus a little cuddle time during bedtime story and/or lullaby will get baby used to what happens before sleep, so the baby can anticipate going to sleep. Eventually, just the routine will get baby off to dreamland before he/she hits the crib.

You cry or the baby!?
I can't get past the crying when you put the baby down. My son is 7 months and when he starts getting sleepy before his bedtime he gets whiney, but he WILL NOT go to sleep. I feed him, change him, give him a warm bath, make sure the baby has a dry diaper and if you have to rock him/her. No matter what I do he cries, its his way of fighting me. HE is SOO tired, but he just doesn't want to lay down.
I dont think you can get past the baby crying. I can't!!!! GOOD LUCK... let me know if you find a way!

who is crying, you or the baby?
if it's the baby - it depends how old and what the issues are.
for any healthy baby over 6 months - you ensure that they are clean, well fed, dry and warm - then simply snuggle for a bit, sing a soft song, coo and cuddle, tell him/her you love her so much and lay them down. then leave the room with a soft "good night"
do not re-enter the room unless they have a wet diaper or are in true distress (ie stuck or caught, being pinched etc) after 5 minutes of crying, come to the door, don't turn on the light, and say softly - it's sleeptime baby, I love you and see you in the morning....
trust me, this will work. It may take 2 or 3 nights, but it works.
I never used music boxes, toys or twinkling lights - not even a night light - just my voice

Some kids cry every night... Maybe by letting him/her cry, he'll realize, "Hey, she ain't picking me up. It must be bedtime!" When they can't speak, they need to vent frustration in ways like crying, and sometimes they do that as they drift to sleep. Let him work it out for himself. Also, they have fairly short memories, so they may need to have the routine repeated for several nights before they remember it. Put baby in the crib, say "Good-night," and turn off the light. They'll get to know this routine, and recognize that Goodnight and lights out means sleepy-time...

you didn't state the age of your baby. if you know that the baby is full the bottom dry, it will not hurt for a baby to cry a little. but do not let that child cry til it goes to sleep. he/she needs to know that you are there. remember too, they are only little once.

How old is the baby? I use to put my baby in his car seat and hook in the car and drive around he would be fast asleep. How about rocking w/the baby? Rub the babies back while they lie in the crib. What do you think is causing the baby to cry? Maybe the baby has colic, or bad gas or maybe it is not tired. Good luck w/your baby.

nurse him, and hum to him, and sing a nice lullaby while rocking him. If he's comfortable, clean, and dry, he'll go to sleep.
