We have a name for our baby girl but can't decide how to spell it, so it can be a little different. So which one? Analyss Celeste Martinez or Analyse Celeste Martinez, we rather change the "i" to a "y"

Um, it starts with "anal." That could be a problem in middle school. Also, avoid Analyse = analyze. Analyss is probably the best out of the group. What about just Alice. No that's "A lice."

Celeste is terrific, though. But it's easily changed to Moleste.

Kids are brutal.
Names are hard.

Sophia? Can't do much to that...

Look at the first four letters of that name, then think about how unthinkingly cruel elementary children can be. Trying to get creative with the names often times causes more problems that it was worth. Schools will misspell the name, children will get upset because the name is regularly mispronounced, and, well, bluntly, they get made fun of and picked on.

Can't tell you what to name the baby, just to think about all the ramifications of the name. One thing my father insisted we pay attention to when having kids is what the initials spell as well. Sometimes, that's not pretty either.

Personal opinion? Celeste would make a better first name.
I like the Annaleise as well - at least it shortens up better. Wouldn't you rather she be called Anna than.....?

I think that Celeste is a beautiful name, but is better as a middle name. As for the Analyss, you could probably change it to Analise or Annalisa or some other combination of letters. Perhaps Analee? And then she could go by whichever she preferred - long name or Anna/Ana. =)

There's not that much name calling anymore in schools - at least, not in middle school or high school. The only instances I've noticed is when immature people are involved or it is just playful teasing by close friends.

I say just go with Celeste - like someone else said, your child will be made fun of because of 'anal'yse.

I think it is a beautiful name and congrats. But I do think you should spell it differently. I understand you want something original, but people will get it wrong and it will always be an issue of correcting people, nobody likes that. I like Annaleise.

When I was reading your question, I had to read the name twice because the first time I read it as "analysis". And the next one reads like "analize". I suggest Annaliese, like Annaliese Van der Pol, a Disney star on Disney channel.

I too saw analysis. And I couldn't even begin to guess how to pronounce it in either spelling. I won't be the only one, I'm sure.
