I am so torn right now. Maybe it's because my 37th b-day is in a few days. I am hoping you all can help me shed a little light on what I should do next.

My hubby and I have been married for 4 years, dating for over 5. He is now 47 and I am about to turn 37. We have a pretty good relationship. I am the primary breadwinner. He has a spinal neck fusion and is on disability. He stays home and cares for the house and our animals. He does an OK job. He's not Suzy Homemaker! LOL But we don't live in filth or anything. He can be cluttered at times.

I have a 12 year old daughter from a previous lesbian relationship (10 years). My "daughter" is not mine biologically or legally, but her mother and I share "custody" and maintain a good relationship. So my daughter is with us quite frequently. She is technically an only child. Her biological mother cannot have any more children and doesn't want any. She can't wait til our daughter is 18 and on her own!!! Seriously!

Is it because the laws are more lenient abrod ?
Or do they want to imitate Angelina Jolie and Mia Farrow ?

l just think it's unfair to give a child up for adoption, let someone else raise it and do the hard yards, then expect to come into this child's life as an adult and say "l'm your Mom". l'm not saying the child shouldn't know who the birthparents are, and if they want to seek them out it's a different story, but l feel like it's selfish to give up a child then want them back on your terms. What do others think about this? What about the biological parent 'having a say' in the child's life? Doesn't this completely negate the point of adoption?

My husband and I have two biological children, aged 3 and 5. We are able to concieve, but have chosen to adopt our 3rd child. We have recieved a few comments off people that since we are able to concieve, we shouldn't be adopting (think of how it would feel knowing it is the only adopted child? Shouldn't you allow those who cannot conceive to have this child?) those sorts of comments.

How do you all feel about this?

having children naturally could really hurt me health wise. so i have no interest in being pregnant, but my husband and i would still like to be parents, in a couple of years. and i know it takes a long time to adopt a child. we really want to do this. and i need some advice on how to get started and how much money we will need to become parents. any info would be great.

I'm 33 years old and I've wanted children my whole life but I'm missing one factor in it all. A man. I'm not sure about the whole sperm bank idea. I want to adopt but I'm not sure if I can. Are the laws different for different places? If so could someone let me know.

Thanks!

My fiance was adopted and we would both like to find some info on his birthparents. It is very important to us that we find out at least things like his medical history & such before we become parents. Shouldn't there be an easier way? I mean wouldn't they at least have that on record so he could know for situations like this?

My fiancee and I have been together for 7 years. i know we cant adopt unless we are married. I would love to adopt instead of having our own snice there are so many children without homes. Its so exspensive though. And I would rather not go through a agency since they are was to exspensive!!Is it cheaper to do a private adoption with a young pregnant mother and can you just settle on a ammount? How do you find these types of women? Please help with advice and personal stories.

We are waiting to adopt and have our homestudy completed by the state. Our agency wait is roughly 1-2 years currently. What can we do to network and search for private adoptions? We have info from our state for foster adoption but we are looking to adopt an infant. Any suggestions?

Still not sure if we want another 18 year commitment, I have 2 kids, ages 20 and 16, 2 stepchildren ages 6 and 10, and I have a grandchild age 1. When is the best time to contact an agency about an open adoption.

My baby is due in February next year and although I am happy I just cannot let myself get excited and it is tearing me and my partner apart. Let me explain:
I have two kids from a previous R-ship and they were both taken into care due to my on off R-ship with their daddy, the fact that i had agoraphobia and couldnt really leave the house due to this illness. The dad was on drugs and had been inside for violence and put me in hospital before. Even though i left him and tried my best to get my kids back, they were eventually adopted off to a lovely couple. i am still having contact with my kids as its an open adoption and my ex is not allowed any contact whatsoever! Anyway over the past 2 years since this happened, i have a new partner and am alot better with my agoraphobia as i can do things now that i couldnot before, such as walk out my flat, go shopping alone and this kind of thing! i dont want to lose this baby cuz of what happened with my other 2 kids. my lifes changed 4 better

My friend is interested in adopting a child from Haiti. The only thing standing in the way is the costs of traveling and adoption fees, etc. She believes that this is her calling and that "God will make a way"...well, I told her I would help her get information on the best ways to acquire the money needed for adoption. Help me do that, please...Gracias!
