This is the first year my 3 1/2 year old understands the idea of Santa and Christmas presents. It is really important to me to keep the wonder of Christmas going for her. The problem is , there is only one gift she has asked Santa for...Butterscotch Pony.
It runs about $250.00 and we just can't afford it. We have gently tried to nudge her toward other gifts but it's the only thing she seems to want.
How do you explain to a three year old that Santa can't afford a certain gift without tarnishing the magic?
I know Christmas shouldn't be just about the gifts, and in our house it's also celebrated as the birthday of Jesus with a cake and special readings from the bible. But we enjoy celebrating the Santa stuff too.
No mean answers please!

I breast fed my children because it's what I chose to do but I've noticed on other questions that some women who breast fed their babies give rude answers about women who chose not to. I understand all about breast milk being better and healthier but there are different reasons why women don't do it and it is their choose to make.

Why do women who breast feed look down on women who don't?

Do you agree with arranged marriages?

Would you agree with sending your daughter off to marry a man she doesn’t know, to spend the rest of her life with a man who may or may not treat her well? Would you make her leave her family, her home, against her will, to make a new life with a new husband and family that she has never met?

It seems most people in western civilization balk at this type of practice, but really, how is adoption much different? We are taking our children from their families and making them go live with strangers who may or may not treat them well, against their will, to make a new life with a new family that they have never met. Usually infants have even less power because they are unable to verbalize, whereas in an arranged marriage, at least the woman in question would be able to speak her opinion and object (if she had that option). Infants don’t have that luxury.

I am full of questions today....
My 3 month old will only sleep on her belly. She has a milk protein allergy that caused severe gassiness and colic till about 8 weeks (nutramigen helped but still had the colic) Per her Dr. we let her sleep on her belly after she could move her head from side to side by herself. It relieved the belly pressure and she would pass gas happily in her sleep (even burp!) She has slept next to me for 3 months and I can hear every little move she makes, and I haven't been paranoid, but she is getting ready to move to crib away from me. I have tried to have her fall asleep on back, even nap, and no way. If I flip her over she is out like a light. Should I be scared to have her tummy sleep w/ out supervision? Should I wait to move her to crib till she can roll over herself? She can pick her head up on belly now, but not roll. She is becoming very uncomfortable in her bassinett/pack and play due to her size, anyone else have belly sleepers? Dont yell @ me

My milk supply is low because she is not feeding very long, but she wants to feed often, about every 45 mins. to an hour. She gets fussy and comes off or falls asleep and then wants to eat again. My breast feel empty and I'm not sure if she is getting anything when she feeds so often. I had been to a lactation consultant already as she was losing a lot of wieght but since has gained a bit but not back to her birth weight yet. How can I increase my supply of breast milk so she can go longer between feeds and start gaining more weight?

I would like to hear from women who have had BOTH a vaginal birth and a c-section. Which did you prefer? I am pregnant with my second and had a vaginal birth with my first. I'm just curious about what women have to say.

My 13 year old daughter has not asked for a lot for Christmas. I want to buy her a nice gift that she will really love, but I don't have any ideas. I already bought her clothes, and I don't want to get her a gift card. Any fun gift ideas for a girl that age?

My son, who will be 5 years-old tomorrow, is having some dental problems. It seems that his saliva is very acidic so he has already developed cavaties, which need to be filled. The dentist asked if we would consider having him put under to have the procedures done and my husband and I said no.

Some people are telling me we're cruel and that he will be scarred for life from this experience. He had to have an MRI done when he was nine-months-old and they had to put him to sleep for that - I was a nervous reck the whole time. I just don't see going through all of that again just to have cavaties filled. What do you think?

I'm 9wks and 3 days. I'm late to work at least 2-3 a week for the past 3 weeks now because of morning sickness and sometimes I leave early cause I'm tired or sick. I've called in at least 4-5 times also. Am I being a whimp? I'm tired, weak feeling, and naucious and thinking about going home again but I don't know if they completely understand or if they think I'm just sponging my pregnancy for days off. How much time did you take off if you had morning sickness?

If your child sleeps through the night or wakes up once or twice. What time do you put them to bed? What is your childs night time sleep schedule? Down at what hour, up for feeding at what hour, back down?...etc.

Thanks...trying to get my daughter in a better routine for sleeping/feeding....she seems to get up so often. 2 month old.

We have been TTC since September. No luck yet. I have started charting my BBT, this will be my 2nd month. I have pretty much zero CM. Been that way since I had my daughter. When I got pregnant with her I never had that problem. I'm hoping that Preseed will take care of that, and help me to get pregnant! I've had all of my blood work done, and been checked and everything was good. other than low iron. But I was told that shouldn't keep me from becoming pregnant. (I had Gastric Bypass 5-6 years ago and have always had low iron since then) I know I haven't been trying for very long, but nevertheless the BFN are still heartbreaking. I am just wondering if anybody has had success using Preseed. If so, how many months did you use it before becoming pregnant? And did you use the whole tube each time? Or is half a tube sufficient?

So I was reading answers to another question about spanking here, and saw the 'best' answer choosen was to spank your kids on the bare bottom. That sounds crazy to me, yes spank the kid if he/she is seriously misbehaving, but why do you have to touch your kids' *** lol, what is wrong with these people? Does one layer of clothing really make much difference when it could be the thin line between good old discipline and potential sexual abuse?
