I would like to hear from women who have had BOTH a vaginal birth and a c-section. Which did you prefer? I am pregnant with my second and had a vaginal birth with my first. I'm just curious about what women have to say.

I would never plan on getting one. I would just like to know what people say in case of an emergency.

I have had both. First child I had was vaginal and second was a c-section. Vaginal was harder during labor, but recovery was easier. C-section just felt like they put weights on my stomach and then took them off. Recovery was pretty rough. Needless to say that after having both I am 17 weeks pregnant with # 3 so that being said it was worth it ALL :)

I am a petite woman 5 ft tall and that's stretching it and my second son was 8lb 9oz so that's the reason I had a c-section. My body did go back to normal. They have the incision at the bikini line and it is nearlly invisible now.

I have had both and prefer the vaginal delivery. A c-section is a major operation, the shortest hospital stay is 72 hrs, plus recovery time at home. Since you have another child you have to take this into account, the hospital will tell you to lift nothing heavier than your new born baby, this can affect your other child depending on his/her age.

Another option to consider is if you are thinking of having your tubes tied, if you are then a c-section is the way to go since they will do it during the c-section.

My c-section was an emergency, I would never choose one unless I had too.

I haven't had both, but I had a very relaxing and comfortable c-section. I had very little problems afterward, I was walking within 12 hours and nursing within 30 minutes. I was out of the hospital after 2 nights, but I was a bit sore for a while. I have the choice on my second, VBAC or c-section, and I'm still up in the air. It's riskier for the baby to do a VBAC, but riskier for me to do a c-section. At this point I'm leaning towards the section, because of the less risk to the baby and I don't have to worry about tearing or anything like that.

A c-section is not as bad as many people fear-- don't let it scare you. and my scar is tiny and below my bikini line.

i have had two vaginal births and one c section. i had a c because i was extremely overdue with my second and had difficulty being induced.

the recovery time after a c section is long and hard. my first babe was extremely large and i had alot of tearing. i still chose a vaginal over a c for my third child, even though i had the option due to a c-section with my second. i would NEVER recommend a c section due to the extremely difficult recovery. i was walking around and doing normal things after both of my vaginal births.......after my c section with my second son i was hurting for a long, long time. sure, the birth is painless......but the after is what kills you. if you have no choice, you have no choice. a healthy baby is the goal. if you DO have a choice.........never go for the surgery.

I had a natural vag. birth the first time around and a c-section the 2nd time and then finally a vag. birth with the epidural the 3rd time. I would definitely say I preferred the vag. birth with the epidural then having the c-section because the healing time is so much longer with the c-section and you are in a lot more pain afterwards. My c-section was because my baby was breached, so when I had the choice the 3rd time around I choose to go for the vag. birth. Good luck!!!

I've had both vaginal w/ my first & c-section w/ my twins & vaginal is so much better. I was fine when I went home from hospital w/ my first my labor was not that bad- but the c-section took forever to heal & hurt so bad! Hope you don't have to have one! Good luck!

Terrible experience for me i had my twins by section and so wished my daughter had been lying in the right position so i wouldn't have had one, had three hemorrhages at home and wouldn't put myself or my partner through it again
Sorry i hope i don't scare some people this is my experience

One child - vaginal birth. Induced at 7 a.m., had an epidural at 2 p.m. after 2 hours of HARD labor and popped him out at 10:03 at night.

He is now 12 years old and the most awesome child you've ever met!

Sorry I can't give you first-hand info on a C-Section, but both my sister (2 kids) and sister in law (3 kids) had to have c-sections for all deliveries and they took a very long time to recuperate and loose the baby weight.

Thanks for the thumbs down! *grin*

My friend can only have sections, she HATES them, they take FOREVER to heal and your body never goes back to normal.

Ive heard that complaint from every woman who's ever had both. Its more painful, it hurts longer, and it never goes back to normal.

C sections are for EMERGENCIES. theyre dangerous for baby, unhealthy for mom, and of the 1 in 2000 deaths related to child birth all but a FEW are caused by c section.

Dont do it. Your body naturally has a system for child birth, and its for a good reason.
