Pregnancy & Parenting - 7 June 2007

Here is my current living situation: Married, 2 kids; one a biological toddler and a 9 yr. old step daughter who shares 50/50 custody between our house and her mom's house.

My problem is that my step daughter doesn't get enough attention from her mom and feels like she should get extra attention here when she comes over. When she's here she feels like it's her turn and that her little sister should be put on the back burner.
My husband and I both do one/one activities with our 9yr old but we cannot favor her the entire time she is over here. My husband and I have a hard time just having a conversation without her needing to be a part of or we can't give our toddler attention without my step daughter getting jealous.
My husband and I treat both the girls equally and won't favor one over the other. How should I explain to my step daughter that she is getting upset because her mom blows her off? I don't want to make her feel bad but she needs to understand the situation.

Can anyone tell me what actually goes on in an Early Invervention evaluation for a two year old? And can you tell me if you can cancel out of the program at any time? When i referred my daughter I thought that she may have a delay. In the last three weeks there has been an explosion of language (yes, and a lot of temper tantrums too). I think they are going to come and tell me to stop wasting their time. What do you advise?

Once again my step-daughter has stolen from us. She's 11, almost 12. Her Mom never blames her, and if we punish her, her mother punishes her older sister "for not stopping her" or else she says that her older sister did it and framed her just so she'd get in trouble, since they don't get along very well. I'm just the stepmom, and she doesn't live with us so her Dad's hands are somewhat tied as well because wouldn't her mother have to approve any kind of professional help since she has primary custody of her? I just want to help her before she ends up in juvenile hall or worse! :( Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

my girlfriend and i had sex 4 times on sunday. sad, i know. so anyways. she stopped her bc that day too, b/c she ws expectinbg her period the next day. she still hasnt startted to bleed, and we're very nervous. its been 4 days and its still like that. what are the chances of her being pregant? how long do some ppl be w/o being pregnant?

well i kn ow i ovulated on the 29th. And i am now in the 2week waiting period. i still have 7 days for my period to start and i get a white discharge. I'm thinking it's over for me this month, i didn't get pregnant.

Is it OK to put sunscreen on a 14 week old? If so, does anyone recommend a safe brand to use? I thought I heard that there should be zinc in the sunscreen but I could be remembering wrong?

As i stated above iam 5 months pregnant... i had subway for dinner, a subway melt, with turkey, ham, bacon and pepperoni... someone told me i am not supposed to have deli meat because of a bacteria called lysteria that can kill the baby! The cervix softens and stretchs... the uterus dialates?
The cervix is above the vagina.. shaped like an orange with a hole that stretches in the middle... leading to a dialated uterus????????/?

At this stage I am feeding her approx every 2 1/2 to 3 hours and she awakes from sleep hungry. When I feed her, she drifts off to sleep again without much wake time and other times she stays awake hours at a time and gets very upset because she becomes over tired? How long should wake time be and does this include the feed as well? I understand she is still learning as she is so young, but is there anything I can do to help her have a better wake and sleep cycle?

I posted a question about being young and unprepared for my child. Almost ever answer said "You weren't ready for sex, You should have used protection..." and so on and so forth.


At 21 living on my own for 3 years now with my boyfriend working full time and going to school full time we HAVE BEEN responsible and I have been on birth control... switching from one method to the other is how I got pregnant....

Why do people assume if you say your un-prepared and pregnant it means your a whore who doesn't use a condom?

I just had a check up last week and the doctor told me I am 1 cm dialated. I have had burst of enegry for the past two days and haven't gone to bed until 2:00am for the past two days. I have walked for the past two days for about a mile and a half. I had two cases of diahera. I have been having a hard time falling a sleep at night and all I want to be is a wake. I have had a few discharges but don't know if I have lost my mucus plug or not as it isn't bloody or brown just really white and a lot of it. If anyone can tell me if I am going into labor soon I would appeciate it.
