Nonsense! 'Outies ' are hereditary, just like 'innies'.
Somewhere between 10-12% of people are 'outies', including siblings of 'innies'.
Babies can develop a nasty infection from lack of care, but can't develop an outie.

NO - all cords are cut the same way - some heal in, some heal out. And there is no way to "order" an innie or an outie. In about 5-10% of outies there may be an umbilical hernia, but only a dr can diagnose that.

No, that is ridiculous. My two sons have outies and I was meticulous with them. One of my sons actually had an umbilical hernia for a while, which then went down to an outie.
There are several factors that cause outies, but lack of cleanliness is not one of them.

Not true at all. With my son I cleaned it with alcohol pads every diaper change and he still has a bit of an outie. With my daughter I did nothing and she has an innie. So who ever told you that was full of it.

Absolutely not, my nephew had an "innie" his mother cleaned it all the time, he got used to the feeling, when he got older he messed with it all the time and some how it became an "outie", I'm not saying don't keep it clean I'm just saying every baby is different.

No that isn't true, the "innie or outie" happens depending on how the umbilical falls of and heals.

No, the shape of the belly button a person ends up with is determined by how the umbilical cord was attached, not how it was kept. My son has a half in & half out belly button. He's 8 years old & balmes his aunt who cut it, saying that she cut it crooked

Nope that isn't true. I cleaned my kids belly buttons religously and they are still outties. Actually, one of my kid's just changed to an innie this year and she's 11.
It all depends on how the doc ties off the chord when they are born.
