My twenty-five month old son is very bright. He knows all of the alphabet by sight, can identify any letter if asked and knows all of the letter sounds. He also can also identify about thirty body parts and thirty animals and their sounds. He has been doing all of the above for the last four months or so. He just has a bit of difficulty forming words. For example; he will call a fire truck a dee-dee-dee. But if he is asked what a fire truck says, he will make a perfect siren noise. Or, he will thank someone for an item received with something that sounds similar to "Thank you", but a stranger would never know what he had said. He will make the syllables, but not the actual word. However, he can say "hello daddy” and "hello mama" perfectly. It's so strange. So, what's the deal? Should my wife and I shell out the money for a speech therapist, or just give him a few more months?

I have a 3 months baby-girl. My husband and his parents asures that it is OK to sit a baby at this age - this is what they do. But, I'm afraid she is too little and it could affect her spinal column somehow. My parents and most of my friends told me i have to be careful and I shouldn't do that now..There is a time for everything..and it is better to do that around 5-6 months - besides the baby tends to sit by him/herself..Please I need an advice...Someone who knows for sure what is best....

I'm having a birthday party for my son who is turning 4. I don't want to send the usual boring goody bag with junk that is going to be forgotten 5 minutes after they get home. I want to send them home with a simple inexpensive but fun homemade craft including everything they need. Any ideas?

do you think its a good thing that it has been approved to be sold without a pescription? i think its a wonderful thing. condoms break things happen i dont understand why some people are so outraged. i mean wouldnt you rather prevent some one from getting pregnant then have them get pregnant and then have to get an abortion? what are your opinions about this?

I'm in my first trimester and I swear, I need massive doses of Prozac. Since I can't take it, I don't know what else to do. Anyone else feel or ever felt like that during pregnancy? If so, what did you do besides taking meds (I won't take 'em with the pregnancy). I am utterly miserable and I'm making my family miserable too. It goes way beyond just being irritable.
p.s. I'm not normally on anti-depressants~ not that there's anything wrong with them. :) Right now, I think they're probably the most wonderful invention ever.

I have an 18 month old and we are actively trying for the second, and having no luck. It is hard and emotionally draining and I am sick of people asking such a personal question without thinking that it may offend. What can I say that sounds at least polite but also lets them know not to ask me about it again?

well, i dated this girl that i cared about, and I recently told her how i felt towards her. She said she likes me, and is attracted to me, but isnt ready for a relationship right now, which devistated me when she told me. We still hang out alot, and just the other day when i was getting over her, she came to my work with coffee from her work. Her work was 30 minutes away from mine, and that surprised me. Then later that night I was at a party, and I told her to come to my party and she did, but left within 10 minutes because she didnt know anybody, but i introduced her to my friends. People say she still likes me, but needs time...

Hi,

This is a question for all the parents/teachers out there. Our child has started Kindergarten and has gotten in trouble almost daily for the past 2 weeks. Most of it was due to just adjusting to a school enviroment (never been to preschool or daycare). Now though, she has gotten in trouble for hitting another child. However, on the way home she told us that the boy she hit had hit her first...and hard enough to make a bruise..on her arm. Instead of telling on him, she smacked him back. I called the school to inquire about it and the vice principal says she has no record of that. On top of that , her K teacher has gotten rather brusque and cold when talking to us on the phone, and never has anything positive to say.

We have a conference (the 2nd one already) tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had any advice. Thanks!

I'll first explain my situation. I'm a married and a stay at home mom to a beautiful six month old son. We do have insurance that has limited co-pays and I do not breastfeed. I don't understand why people say babies are so expensive. We buy brand name Pamper diapers and off-brand Parents Choice formula. We also buy solids and snacks for our son. So far I have bought him sassy toys, an exersaucer, swing, convertible car seat, stroller with car seat, High Chair, and a few lay down toys. Our monthly income is approximately. $1,400. Besides the toys, books and the clothes (most clothes are bought by relatives) which we buy sparingly I think it only costs us about $80-$100 a month? Have I not hit the height of child expenses? How much do you spend a month on your infant/child? Thank you for your answers and opinions!
