Pregnancy & Parenting - 13 August 2006

My son who is now 3 years old was born with imperforate anus (no rectal opening) he has had 5 surgeries to correct this problem but he still has some issues. Before he was born my husband was very excited when we found out we were having a boy and he had dreams about taking him fishing and playing ball with him but so far three years later he has yet to do anything with him and he is a typical little boy that runs around and plays just fine like any other 3 year old. It just kills me inside that my husband can't take the time and bond with him and throw him a ball or take him to a park and push him on a swing. You should see the way he clings on to other men, like my friends husbands or my brother, that pay attention to him. I don't know what to do. Please help

I just asked an abortion question and everyone's been very supportive of the dilemma they think I have.. I didn't mean to imply that I was in this situation myself, I am actually male, and my wife and I use birth control because we are not financially ready to have a child. I am trying to refine my viewpoints on this topic, and I'm just interested in knowing what people feel.

My question: Do parents have a responsibility to be ready emotionally and financially to provide the support a child needs? With an adoption system that is generally very difficult to go through, isn't it less cruel to have an abortion, as early in the pregnancy as possible, if you are unable to support a child?

Can't some way be found to get 16-18 year olds in nightclubs where they can't get to drink alcohol?

Or at least certain subcultury ones

ie goth, rock, skatepunk, metal, psytrance etc...

When I was young these clubs seemed to be easy going in regards to age and there was never really any trouble or much in the way of kids getting drunk as all were into the music...


16-18 you are the most into music, everying is new and thrilling, music is your passion, you life, your culutre practically a relgion

Its the time you meet your first and best loves when you have a big group of mates to hang with, when you are fittest to dance and least give a monkeys...


As was growing up then and into 20s the 16-18 age group and us t the time were first on a dance floor, got it going, first moshing, the lifeblood of the place ... With the mad hair little restricted by office jobs often whilst students etc etc

In short could not give a monkeys about the alcohol and mainly drank coke.

I am TTC, last time, after 6 days after ovulation, i had a brownish/orange discharge, i thought it was implantation spotting. It only lasted 1 hour. 10 days afterwards, the period came as usual. Could it be I'm lacking of vitamins ? I spend the whole morning at work, with fruits only. Now, I am 6 days on ovulation, I have regular cramps in my lower abdo (I had taken several u/sound, everthing normal), frequent urination especially at nights (even when I didn't even drank before I slept), and heatburns/aching stomach. What's going on ? Any similar experiences ?

my three week old baby has her days and nights mixed up. i've tried all kinds of things to get her to stay up more during the day and nothing works. should i try giving her a little cereal at night or is she still too young? i know she's still little and sleeps alot. i just want her to do her sleeping at night. she's up from 1to 3 or 4 in the morning

Please be serious. I am 39 weeks and dialated to 2 cm. The doctor said he doubted I would make it to my next appt which is tomorrow. I was up all night last night because I just felt uncomfortable Now my stomach is cramping slightly like I need to have a bowel movement but when I go, I can't GO! The doc told me to try sex, but my husband insists that it'll hurt the baby. I am so frustrated and feel misreable. Any advice?

I've noticed several time here lately that people have suggested squirting breastmilk into your baby's eyes or ears to cure an infection. Could someone please point me to a link that shows a study had been done on this and proves that this will cure certain viral or bacterial infections? Thanks!

My son started kindergarden last year, the first couple of days I had some moms come up and talk to me, but like a week later they would just get in their little groups and ignore me, it's makes me uncomftorable standing outside my kids class or a class party and the other moms wont give me the time of day, it's like highschool all over again, i'm naturally shy and I don't like to go up to people I don't know and start a conversation. Do you think I should be worried about this? I just don't want my son to get made fun of because i'm not in with all the other moms. Any advice?
