so many kids go through a "dinosaur" phase where they wanna buy as many books,movies,and toys about dinosaurs as possible.what is it bout dinosaurs that fascinate us?

I teach preschool and a huge percentage of children go through this phase. I think they enjoy them so much because they are scary to them. They are kind of like a monster, and children are fascinated with monsters too. Also, the idea of something being extinct is perplexing to them, they can't quite grasp it and want to learn more. We have dinosaur models in our sandbox. The children like to make the roar. I read recently that the new thought is the dinosaurs are believed to be related to birds. Whenever I hear a child roar, I pick the dinosaur up and make it tweet. :)
They fascinate adults as well because something on this earth existed before us. The true reason they are extinct is unknown. Humans need to know why, so we keep striving to find the truth about what they ate, how they moved, what animals are related to them, and how they died.

I really can't say why, but you are right. I have two grandchildren (twins, a boy and a girl) they are almost 4 years old and I have almost every dinosaur cartoon made. But what can I say, I sit right with them and watch just as much as they do. We also love Jurassic Park. My grandson expecially loves the T-Rex.

because it's like a big wow! to think that those creatures ever existed and how big and massive they are fascinates us. esp. since we can't see any real ones today. it's imagination gone wild for the little kids. :)

certain, I have continually study books about historic Age geology, dinosaurs and quite Ice Age animals--the biggest issues ever except the dinosaurs. thanks for asking. movie star coming.

because they arent around for us to see and expeience for ourselves...they are so out of the ordinary for the animals we experience on a daily basis that they are super creatures in our mind....
