Can't some way be found to get 16-18 year olds in nightclubs where they can't get to drink alcohol?

Or at least certain subcultury ones

ie goth, rock, skatepunk, metal, psytrance etc...

When I was young these clubs seemed to be easy going in regards to age and there was never really any trouble or much in the way of kids getting drunk as all were into the music...

16-18 you are the most into music, everying is new and thrilling, music is your passion, you life, your culutre practically a relgion

Its the time you meet your first and best loves when you have a big group of mates to hang with, when you are fittest to dance and least give a monkeys...

As was growing up then and into 20s the 16-18 age group and us t the time were first on a dance floor, got it going, first moshing, the lifeblood of the place ... With the mad hair little restricted by office jobs often whilst students etc etc

In short could not give a monkeys about the alcohol and mainly drank coke.

Why would you want you kid there?

Well as said had best times in the clubs where we were regulars and as said not into getting pissed or trouble...

Boy and girlfriends made out publically and safely near friends.

Getting up to mosh to nirvana.

Whilst those at the rave psitrance scenes were all creative and sort of 'spiritual'

So could not say the bar be cut off with bouncers so you could only drink in the bar, and no drinks taken into the main area (would also help to keep them off dance floor.

With soft drinks in the main area and no glass.

Almost like they do at some concerts...

As for shocking well how about wedding receptions and some irish clubs... they are full of kids with alcohol around

And it keeps kids out of trouble and can teach good values.

In our scene we always helped those who fell over, the clubs tied in with the concerts.

It was a culture. Look out for others, strong and older looking after the weaker and younger.. good values

Thing also is that many are in mixed groups... often the younger cousins, brothers and sisters.. of mates.

And when people get older they still want to hang with younger mates and the older keep an eye on the younger...

I think they should have a certain wristband, membership with the club, one of those blacklight stamps, something that a teenager could not easily duplicate. Things like that are possible, but with how busy clubs get, it could be a real traffic jam at the bar for people who can drink to get scanned or checked in a certain way, just to get a drink. It would definitely slow down the place a bit. But maybe that would teach underages to lay off, its not worth waiting that long for. Its sad how some kids can ruin it for all of us. A lot of kids just want to dance! But then again, even if we didn't drink, I guess some people dont think the club scene is right for us kids.

From what I've seen many already are in clubs but drinking!

Here in Edinburgh a few clubs have under 18 nights on sat or fri before the club opens for normal punters. You should see the amount of police drafted in to control the queues cos they all fight and try to smuggle drink and drugs in. Why should my tax money be used to make sure they can get a night out? Its bad enough controlling the over 18's after the clubs shut!

Give em something and they just abuse it!

I would not want my 17 year old in a club full of 25-30 something people who have been drinking.

At wedding receptions, just like at private parties, the parents are always nearby... hence not having problems.

Even with the wristbands, minors in a club can get alcohol. Alcohol leads to diminished judgement. I wouldn't want my teenage son or daughter to wake up in the bed of someone much older.

A high-school student is at a different place emotionally, economically, and socially than college students and adults.
Just deal with it.

Its not jsut about the kids drinking. Why would teh older clients want the kids there and I can assure you they will not respect their age when they are drunk. One of the kids does/says the "wrong" thing in his quest to learn adult culture is as likely to get a beating as an older one.
Let the kids grow up gently, the need for rules has only come because of those that are supposed to be mature that cant take their drink

In my area there are night clubs that cater for 16-18 yr olds. They call them 'nappy nights' and they use the club as over 18s would but the difference being no alcohol.
