Which is more harmful to a fetus: The mother using cocaine daily or smoking cigarettes daily?

To clarify, I myself am not doing these actions. I am studying it in a class and happen to know the correct answer. I just want to know what other people think is more harmful!

One of my professors in nursing school acutally said that cocaine is not as bad, but you still shouldn't do it. Smoking cigarettes can have a lot of harmful and long term effects on a baby. I am saying smoking.

Ok...my answer would be cocaine, but knowing the question is probably a trick question or something, I am sure the answer is ciggarettes. Although cocaine could cause miscarraige, smoking can cause low birth weight, preterm labor, and asthma in the fetus.

Both have different, but equally disturbing effects.
Cocaine causes brain damage and the fetus to be addicted to the substance which can cause death or FAS-like symptoms fo rthe rest o ftheir lives.
Smoking Cigarettes causes low birth weight, underdeveloped organs and is the leading cause of SIDS which causes death and health problems for the rest of their lives.
I have had to live with the affects of smoking (when my mom was preganat) and it has cause SO many health problems later in life.

i know the answer would be something stupid like smoking cigarettes but i would say cocaine bc the baby would be born with a serious addiction...i smoked cigarettes when i was pregnant with my son (i know its bad) and he turned out fine...no addictions and no colic

cocaine is more harmful. because cocaine can go to the baby, and severly damage the baby, also the baby will be addicted to it. i would suggest you quit your drug habits and look after the life inside of you.

cocaine...We know what's in tobacco. Cocaine can have anything in it. Who is to say the cocaine doesn't have a lethal amount of arsenic in it?
