I've noticed several time here lately that people have suggested squirting breastmilk into your baby's eyes or ears to cure an infection. Could someone please point me to a link that shows a study had been done on this and proves that this will cure certain viral or bacterial infections? Thanks!

on no, we can't give our kids formula, yet we can squirt breastmilk in their eyes. Honestly...

So does colloidal silver and silver nitrate. I beleive the AMA would endorse "breastmilk" as a prophalactic to be used in infants eyes after birth if the properties were so unique as some have claimed. While I'm sure it won't hurt, let's not forget breastmilk is a food for infants, not a drug to cure infections. If you suspect your baby has an eye or ear infection, I would suggest taking them to the pediatrician and getting a professional evaluation. Lets not forget, small cuts and scrapes heal rather rapidly anyway just by exposure to oxygen.

I think the links you will find most of this propaganda on is on La Leche League's website, and Kellymom. These women think *breastmilk can cure terminal AIDS and cancer too.

*No reputable clinical study has proven this. Don't take my word for it, research it for yourself.

Lissa...girl you are funny as hell!! LOL!!! I almost fell out my chair reading your reply. LOL!!

I have used breastmilk as eye drops and to heal cuts and scrapes for all of my kids. Breastmilk has many antibacterial and other healing properties and can really help!
