It was the mayor that didn't order an evacuation and turned away the Red Cross. It was the Governor that didn't ask for federal assistance. Is Bush to blame because he didn't know more than the media that was reporting 'how light storm damage was'? or was Bush supposed to circumvent the Constitution by sending troops into a sovereign state without permission?

I am an Independent. I will not give my loyalty to either incompetent party. But based on my experience with the responders at Yahoo! Answers I'm assuming most are Republican, or would describe themselves as Republican.

Why do I assume this? Of course the internet provides the anonymity racist, and immature people need to articulate all the ignorance they hold in during the day at work and dealing with the majority of sane people.

So Represent your Party.

I ask here because it is a political question and because I really think there are a number of people here who have good ideas.

I know why there's a problem but how do we correct it?

Any ideas?

Paraphrase of Plato's Republic:
"Democracy is a charming form of government, full of variety and disorder, and dispensing a sort of equality to equals and unequal alike."

Democracy is therefore a lesser form of government.

The cover story on the upcoming issue of American Conservative magazine will paint an extremely unflattering picture of General Petraeus, branding him a "Sycophant Savior",
accusing him of telling the Administration of what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear, that he has broken faith with the troops, and that he has failed his country.

Will the republicans attack the magazine with the same fervor they had when they went after moveon.org over the "betray us" ad? Will they draft and approve legislation condemning the American Conservative?

I just answered a Q that was a friendly poke at liberals . No hate no vitriol , just good-natured ribbing . And of course I saw liberal answers that reflected they take small friendly jokes way too seriously . We're used to that . But do we ever stop and ask WHY ?
The liberals have to admit that there's more than a few Conservatives , including myself , who post good-natured ribbing-type posts fairly often .
And just where are all the liberals who can post friendly joking pokes at Conservatives ?
Where's their humor ?
Personally , I'd absolutely LOVE to have a few good jokesters on the left that I could spar right back with . Sure we can get serious too but humor is good for the soul . Humor is good for your health . And I see no problem with adding a little humor to political questions . Not all the time , but certainly there's room for it .

Can I See Some Liberal Answerers Start Posting Some Humorous Political Questions ?
How About A Humorous Answer To This One ?

With some conservatives eagerly awaiting the announcement of a Newt Gingrich presidential run, the former House Speaker launched his inaugural Solutions Day in Atlanta, Georgia yesterday.

Gingrich went on to blast Columbia University for inviting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak. He said, “Overwhelmingly, the American people believe when you have an enemy…you have to defeat that enemy, not understand them.”

I haven't been listening to Rush, because my job is more demanding lately. But what I do know is this. Many of you Rush haters aren't listening to him. Instead you get quotes and sound bites from places like media matters. You let a far left wing organization sell you on a point and give you sound bites taken out of context. I know this is true from the times I have listened to Rush.
For instance, as someone who agrees with Rush much of the time, I would surely be labeled as a racist along with Rush, according to media matters. Yet, my children are half Mexican and my grandchildren will be half Black. That would mean I would have to hate my own family.
As long as you get your news from sources who will lie to you you'll never get to the truth.
Sure you disagree with him, so what. Imagine if you couldn't find a news program on TV that you agreed with.

To a liberal, giving every child born on USA soil (this includes illegal parents) $5000, sounds like a great way to start a new life. The flaw, to those who don't choose to drink Hillary's Kool Aid, is where is this $5000 coming from? Of course it's tax-payers.

If this isn't a clear case of re-distribution of wealth and Euro-Trash socialism, then Bill Clinton is not an adulterer.

Clearly, this is socialism but liberals who support Hillary's socialist plan, can't come out of the closet and admit they are socialists?

(yes, I already know anyone who diasagrees with socialism must be- neo-con, stupid, fascist, racist, capitalist, etc because if you oppose socialism you MUST be all of these things)
