I haven't been listening to Rush, because my job is more demanding lately. But what I do know is this. Many of you Rush haters aren't listening to him. Instead you get quotes and sound bites from places like media matters. You let a far left wing organization sell you on a point and give you sound bites taken out of context. I know this is true from the times I have listened to Rush.
For instance, as someone who agrees with Rush much of the time, I would surely be labeled as a racist along with Rush, according to media matters. Yet, my children are half Mexican and my grandchildren will be half Black. That would mean I would have to hate my own family.
As long as you get your news from sources who will lie to you you'll never get to the truth.
Sure you disagree with him, so what. Imagine if you couldn't find a news program on TV that you agreed with.

It's funny to me how much disdain there is for Rush. It's almost as if people are afraid that he's right-on and if they do not villify him . . . people might actually listen and agree.

I still remember the first time I heard Rush - I passed it on the radio and thought . . ."I've heard this guy is a wack-job"
I've been listening for 10 years now and agree with 98.7% of what he says.

First and foremost Rush is an entertainer. He is successfull because he purposely create controversy which attracts attention which in turn attracts advertisers and makes him money. You can not call him a 'news man' anymore than you could call Bill Maher, Bill O'Reilly, John Stewart, or Pat Buchannan 'news men'. Rush does make some very valid points in his commentaries, as do all of the others I mention. But if you are looking for real news and the only source you are listening to or watching is Rush or the others, then you are not becoming informed, you are being manipulated.

I used to listen to Air America Radio, and the true Rush counterpart, Mike Malloy.

However, I have since been cured of partisan radio and the brainwashing that goes on with it.

You see, I firmly believe that we are all Americans. Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Socialist, Fascist, Anarchist, Totalitarian, religious, spiritual, atheist; we are all countrymen. There is no reason for this "Us vs Them" mentality. That does nothing but divide us.

Wedge issues like abortion, gay rights, prayer in schools...they do nothing but divide us even more. I have my opinion on all of those, to be sure, but I don't believe that something like that should be taken into consideration when I vote. Why? Because those issues are unresolvable. They are generally matters of faith, and the free practice of faith is what this country was founded on. You don't believe in those things, then you don't have to do them. You don't have to believe that being gay is OK or that abortion is OK, but understand that other people believe differently, and they believe it just as vehemently as you believe in your way.

Now, that's not to say that I think you believe a certain way because you listen to Rush, I'm just making a point.

Those things that partisan talk radio, be it liberal or conservative, push on us are really not within a thousand yards of swinging distance of our real problems.

And, to make matters worse, once again, it divides us. Politicians have sought to take the power from us since the inception of this country. John Adams, our second president, tried to consolidate his power with the banks and get rid of our system of government.

And what's the best military strategy to defeat an army? Divide and conquer. Get us to bicker more with each other about the wedge issues while they can, say, walk away, literally, with $9 billion in cash out of the New York Federal Reserve or hire mercenary armies as a way to circumvent the Geneva conventions. We bicker about abortion and gay rights while our government gives millions and billions to special-interest groups that are working for the people in power. We argue about whether America is a Christian nation while corruption reigns in Congress and the White house. We point fingers at each others' representatives while we are fed fear and our Constitution is shredded; while our President makes signing statements that put him solely in charge of the entire country in the case of another disaster; while our vice-president makes energy policies that benefit a company that he's a member of the Board of.

Do you see this? Partisanism is destroying our country and our way of life. We bicker and fight when we should be holding our elected officials responsible for their actions.

Is Rush right? No, but neither is Malloy.

I have heard him before. I know what he says and I know his positions on things.
I think Media Matters quoted him correctly. If it did not, then Rush would have recourse in the courts with truth as a defense. He could even sue for actual malice - if Media Matters showed " reckless disregard for truth or falsity" . The fact that Rush has NOT sued indicated that he probably can not mount a challenge - trust me, he would if he could. Rush has lawyers too.
I don't have to listen to Rush to know how biased and irresponsble he is.
Media matters does NOT take quotes out of context. If MM has Rush looking over his shoulder, that's excellent.
And no, I won't listen to him - he insults my intelligence.

Here is the problem with the liberal media: Instead of focusing on the FACTS to uncover a story, they go in looking for evidence to support what THEY think the story should be. Simple as that.

As for Rush Limbaugh, liberals can say what they want about him. But it's a FACT (not my opinion) that he has the highest rated syndicated talk show in the country. More than Imus had, more than Stern, and more than anybody else in history. With 20 million listeners at any given time throughout his broadcast each morning, I think that speaks volumes about what the majority of the people in this country really are. And they sure as hell aren't liberals.

I'm a dido head. I run into so many disagreements with some of my liberal relatives and acquaintances over the problem with the media taking bits and pieces of Rush, that I joined 24/7 so I could show them how the libs distort Rush

KRR my reaction the first time was exactly like yours. 15 years for me

No, I do not agree with Rush Limbaugh's views. I think he is too extreme and he does not give the other side a chance at all.

I don't listen to the radio but very seldom. I have only heard Rush a few times, but I have never heard him say anything that I disagreed with.
