Two things that those on the far Left simply cannot abide by are private gun ownership and homeschooling – and largely for the same reasons

They both tend to lessen your dependence on government.

The first element gun ownership and homeschooling have in common is self-reliance. A firearm in the hands of a trained and peaceable person makes that person more able to protect himself and his family against any who would seek to harm them. Likewise, homeschooling allows a family to nurture educated, capable, independent children without relying upon the government.

The second commonality lies in providing something for your family that government cannot, or will not, offer. As capable as our police are, they cannot be nearby every second of every day and cannot offer you the constant protection that your own firearm can. Similarly, homeschooling allows you to raise your children according to your beliefs, using your values, and with accountability that only one-on-one instruction can provide

Remember, not everyone who supports homeschooling chooses to homeschool their own kids. So, too, not everyone who supports the Second Amendment chooses to own a firearm. But liberals simply don't want anyone to have that choice

Liberal elites do everything they can to marginalize people who do not buy into their government-centered view

Is it because they prematurely declared that the U.S. and allies have already lost?
If the battle in Iraq can not be won, then, what sort of battle can the U.S. and allies win?
I'm really baffled. I've never seen people so eager to annonce to the world that they are losers.
Your thoughts please. Explain, please.
-Thanks.

Do you ever get the impression that some people on YA (especially in the politics) section would silence the freedom of speech of people on a much bigger scale if they could get away with it ? Seeing as how they seem to have blocked a lot of people from answering their questions ? Especially when it's for no other reason than those people that blocked them disagree with them ?
Can you imagine what some of these people would try to do if they ran for political office and got elected ?

Americans give record $295B to charity

"Individuals gave a combined 75.6% of the total".

It tells you something about American culture that is unlike any other country," said Claire Gaudiani, a professor at NYU's Heyman Center for Philanthropy and author of The Greater Good: How Philanthropy Drives the American Economy and Can Save Capitalism. Gaudiani said the willingness of Americans to give cuts across income levels, and their investments go to developing ideas, inventions and people to the benefit of the overall economy.

Gaudiani said Americans give TWICE as much as the next most charitable country, according to a November 2006 comparison done by the Charities Aid Foundation. In philanthropic giving as a percentage of gross domestic product, the U.S. ranked first at 1.7%. No. 2 Britain gave 0.73%, while France, with a 0.14% rate, trailed such countries as South Africa, Singapore, Turkey and Germany.

President Bush is to veto a bill that would ban mercury in flu vaccines for children despite its known links to autism and other neurological disorders and despite the fact that he pledged in 2004 to support such a move when campaigning for re-election.

Only the republicans think that unemployment is down, and the economy is better than ever? Doesn't anyone pay attention to the details, on how the big companies that are left are filing bankruptcy, or needing more federal aid, just to function? Most of America's things are made over seas. When will we get our companies back, and start provide more high paying jobs for Americans.

This poll says he was; I think he was also!

"He edged out Abraham Lincoln, who abolished slavery, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King.

George Washington, the first US president who is considered the father of the nation, comes in at fourth place.

Current US President George W Bush #6 and his predecessor Bill Clinton #7 , whose presidency was tarnished by the Monica Lewinski sex scandal, are both in the top 10".

Warsaw to erect statue to Reagan

"Polish admirers of Ronald Reagan say they will erect a statue of the late US president in Warsaw to thank him for helping to end communist rule.

They say the 3.5-metre (10.5ft) stone and bronze statue will stand opposite the US embassy in the Polish capital".

It seems that that line is usually given as an excuse for a policy that will help some people at the expense of others, or will provide government protection for a specific group. We'll artificially increase steel prices by raising tariffs, to "help working families" - - no, to protect a few steel companies and steelworkers' unions who donated to your campaign, at the cost of higher prices for everyone else.

I mean by that definition the Gambinos "helped working families" - they were a family, they worked, and they helped themselves.

Please provide me with a little insight in this matter because it seems to me that our country never got beyond the elementary popularity-based election strategy. Has anyone else noticed that the people we are voting for are nothing beyond average? When did we start trying to assimilate our highly intelligent into our average public schools? When will we again be in a time that our most influential leaders are also our most trusted advisors? When will we start asking the right questions, and when will we start trusting those giving us the answers?

Have you taken a female friend, or family member to the range and introduced her to fireams handling and marksmanship?
If not...why???

Women are targeted by violent crime more often than men. Firearms are the great equalizer.

I have done this for dozens of women over the years. One thing they quickly realize is that it does not take great strength or athleticism. In fact, many instructors will tell you that women are better shooters than men. Firearms is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. And these skills just might save your life one day. I encourage them to apply for a concealed carry permit and to purchase a firearm of their own.

If you truly care about your loved ones, you would too

Do you think that people choose to not work and sit around all day and collect welfare? Aslo, do you think that food stamps are used to buy beer and drugs? Do you believe that women have multiple children and then all of those children go on welfare? Do you think that welfare is free or a loan? And lastly, for how long can you collect? Just trying to figure out the amount of actual knowledge people have on the subject
