I carry most of the time, and used to do IDPA matches when I had the time. My dad taught me to shoot when I was young, and I've enjoyed it every since. I've also taught a couple of my coworkers how to safely handle firearms, and set up a "girl's day at the range" every few weeks for practice. Not only is it essential for protection when you do a lot of traveling or working alone, but target shooting can be a very fun and rewarding hobby.

I agree, women many times are better shooters than men,at least that's been my experience. I have taught a few,not my last girlfriend though,I wouldn't trust her with a pellet gun. I've always found the hardest part is to get some of them to take the first trip to the range, odd how those in the society theoretically most in need of a firearm are the ones most hesitant about them. As far as I'm concerned I think women should all be armed,it's just too dangerous out there.

1st gun I shot was a 38. That was at 6 yrs. old. My mother was the 1st markswoman in our county. My father had a gun room. We were taught firearm safety at a young age. Which everyone should do regardless of age. So when raising my children I taught them everything I was taught. My father use to say there wasn't a more dangerous creature than an angry scared women with a loaded gun.

Quotes from above:
"If the intruder is unarmed, or if he/she tries to get personel, Aikido can take care of that situation."
and
"If an intruder has weapons of any kind, I suggest that you let him steal your large screen TV rather than risk the lives of your family."
You really think a 110 pound woman alone at home is going to dispatch a couple or three 300 pound thugs who broke into her home with martial arts? Perhaps they don't want her TV but instead want her. Do you still recommend no resistance and let them have what they want?
As for me my Glock 29 is with me at all times and My husband and I shoot often.

i got my first rifle when i was 12, yes where i live your guns are part of you life.
a gun is an inanimate item and has no personally, for good or bad, until it is held by a person.
my state has the 'make my day' law and it is frequently in our local news of home invaders being shot while committing a b&e or assault.
it is our right to protect our families and our property.
maybe criminals would think twice if they knew that they risk death if they committ crimes but mostly they know that they face only a slap on the wrist and will be out soon to commit other crimes and take innocent lives.

No men in my family have guns. I love guns and hope to get one one soon and become an NRA member. I really wish I had someone to teach me marksmanship.

I am a female and my fiance, a police officer, has taken me shooting on numerous occasions and as soon as I pick out a handgun I am 100% comfortable with, I will be getting my concealed weapons permit. I prefer to shoot a .44 magnum, but I don't think I could carry that heavy thing. I need a nose gun.

My husband taught me how to use firearms and a variety of guns when we first met. I really appreciated the fact that he wanted me to learn and even bought me my own hand gun when I moved in with him. I have had to use it to threaten a drunk idoit that wandered onto our property when my husband was gone one night.
