You know, I'm a conservative and a christian and this type of nonsense ticks me off. First off, a true pastor should know that Jesus doesn't need to be "alive" today to disapprove of anything, and as it is I'm sure he disapproves of many things people do (including me) regardless of their political affiliation.
If this is true, your pastor has virtually no understanding of the teachings of Christ.
EDIT: Sorry Don C but Jesus adhered to the Law as set down by Moses. If one insists on putting a modern label on Jesus, I'd say that in the most straightforward, theological sense, he was a "conservative" Jew. But he refused to abide by the legalism that the "hyperfundamentalists" had infected it with. Jesus said that he had not come to change one "jot or tittle" of the Law, but to fulfill it."- (Matthew 5). Unless the spiritual purpose of the Law is understood, it's just a bunch of rules (and we know how humans bend, reinterpret, ignore and rebel against rules). Jesus was looking for heart change.

No, I think your pastor needs to lay off that jug of "corn squeezins" that he keeps under the desk. I would like to know what Bible he is reading from to get this misinformation. I am not a Christian so please give me a little bit of latitude here as my biblical knowledge is kind of hazy. First of all, Jesus probably was a Liberal. He definitely did not go into preaching or performing miracles to get rich and if he did, that was an attempt that failed miserably. Jesus was also without prejudice as he dined with people like tax collectors and prostitutes. He loved the sinners but hated the sins. I also doubt that Jesus would kill anyone. When he saw the temple being turned into a marketplace he got angry but didn't kill anyone. He just came in turned over the money tables and threw everyone out. I think that your pastor is a little misinformed.

Jesus would kill a liberal...have you read the bible? Soooo, would Jesus be a republican? Judging by your question, you don't seem to know very much about the life of Jesus and his teachings -- but I have to ask anyway...How do you think Jesus would feel about the state having control over life and death (keep in mind...also the same people in charge of the DMV)? Read the New Testament before you answer.

"Kill" is a strong word. I've seen the JC with a gat cartoon and it is most likely of Muslim origin. Osama with a pet goat is more like it.
Liberals/conservatives are often sinners and Jesus loves sinners of all persuasions. And if you left the church, even for your found your own religion, He forgave. trying leaving the mafia, some cults or the world's largest cult and they want you DEAD! Write a book against Christianity like 1000s and no problem...you can be forgiven. Cultist writes book against the cult...GOOD-bye Charlie Tunesian! Somebody will happily murder them in cold blood for a sack of GOLD!
If you think the Pope or his folks would do you in...think again. Dan Brown wrote that Da Vinci code book and he is alive and well and filthy RICH!

I bet this is a conservative church too. It's things like that that make me sick. Sure, I disagree with Democratic policy, but I'm not about to manipulate a religious figure and claim he would disapprove of a group of people. In fact, Jesus' policies would probably be considered liberal.

If Jesus was alive today, conservatives would think long haired, sandal-wearing men were cool. Of course the christian following would be in it's infancy, and conservatives and the religious right wing would be worshiping some other religion ( the radical right wingers might even be calling for Jesus to be taken into custody and rendered because his religion might try to overthrow the one that they already worshiped.

If Jesus were alive today, he'd definitely qualify for Social Security, so it's entirely possible he'd approve of the Liberals.

I think if Jesus were alive today, he would never take either side. Both sides are wrong in so many ways, it would be ignorant to think that he would pick any side.
The Bible says that God is not the author of confusion.
Christ was a unifier, a builder, a savior. To think that you could associate something or someone of such depth with something as shallow and insignificant as a political party is saddening.

Jesus would do no harm if it cost him his life, again! Apparently your pastor doesn't recognize that there is separation between the church and state for a reason, your pastor is a fool, and so are you if you bring politics into church! It's bad enough that we have religion and politics, to mix the two is really asking for trouble!

The last I heard Jesus was a compassionate man and would not kill or disapprove of anyone but love them for who they are.
