I have stood by as the taxes on smokes grew and grew. I get it, lung cancer is costing millions in healthcare and this is to off set the cost. or so they say. But what about obesity which is one of the leading killers? Why do we continue taxing smokers and leave the fast food and snack food's alone? Why am I spending all this money on smokes to go to "healthcare" for my old age when at least half of it is now spent caring for people who have slurped from the greae trap for the past 20 years?
So, do you think that they should start taxing fast food and junk food the way they tax smokes to offset the price of health care associated with obesity or should smokers take all the weight in taxes when obese people have just as much blame to claim?

I see people all the time say "Well, in an election, choose the lesser of two evils.". What? It doesn't have to be that way. We should stand and fight, just like our forefathers did. Our leaders may seem militarily stronger, but if we make a big enough wound, the nation will look at us and wonder "Why are these people giving their lives to fight our government?" and thats when common sense will set in. I honestly believe a forced revolution will return this nation back to the people. Our social sytem is not too complex to recover from the shock of civil war, there are too many smart people, we would certainly recover in short order, we're americans. What do you say? Revolution?

Both are just as crooked and mislead as the other, and independent is too broad of a term. Are there any other political party choices in America? It saddens me that our options are so slim, because all these people are the same, and just pretend to be different.

First off, Semites are people from the middle East. The Arabs and only a small portion of the Jews in the middle East are Semites. The majority of Israelis are of European background and are not semitic.

And, more importantly, why doesn't the American public have access to the truth about the occurrences there? Why is it when Israel is on the offensive we hear more about the slaughter of Jews that happened more than a half a century ago than we do about things that are happening right now> Is this a red herring to keep our attention away from the slaughter?
(I do not intend to diminish the fact that innocent Israelis are killed, too. When Mamma cries, Jewish or Moslem, her tears flow just as freely)

They leave instead of improve there country, because its in turmoil yet they fly there flags. If the US ever became like Mexico, I'd fight to change it instead of just leaving. Do they hate their country or are they just lazy?

I spent the night in Pueblo, Colorado last night and the stupid city has banned smoking in public restaurants, hotels, bars, ect. Every public establishment. What about our freedom? I should be able to smoke if I want to darnit. If someone thinks second hand smoke is harmful, then don't ever be by a campfire. Don't even live in the city for gawdsakes.
What gets me is that certain wimps think smoking is so bad while they stuff their faces with french fries and shakes. Oh look at me, I'm so good and I don't smoke. I weigh 400lbs and eat junk but that is ok!! Certain people in our country our turning into such wimps. That is why I like states where people are more into freedom for gowd sakes. Kansas, for instance. New Mexico, Missouri. I would never ever live in California or the east coast for these reasons.

I don't recall these colors being used in the 1996 election. Then suddenly, there they are in 2000. Someone must have come up with these colors.

It was Thomas Nast who came up with the Donkey and Elephant for the two main parties way back in the 19th century.

Also, why D=Blue and R=Red?

Remember when it was politically advantageous to talk tough against Saddam and Iraq? But when Bush says the same thing, the liberals all squak and scream, and the Democrats deny everything they said about the subject?
Compare what they said, to what Bush said. It's the same thing, but liberals have short memories. http://powerlineblog.com/archives/005456.php#005456

How do liberals rationalize the amount of terrorist attacks during the clinton years, being offered bin laden back in 1996, not holding or investigating him, then lying to the 911 commission saying he was never offered bin laden.
Here is the article and clinton caught on tape admitting to this:
