Their is a war on the middle class with wages, health care cost, oil prices ,food prices, and home energy cost, people are saving less. Compare the gap between the rich and poor now with the gap in the 50s or 60s or 70s and you will understand what is going on. "We the People" is turning into "We the corporation". I think it is time to turn these billionaires into millionaires again and show some real trickle down economics.

It's getting hard for everyone barring the top few (ie: those who who have more money than they can blow in a lifetime).
I believe the main reason is over-population, there's only so much wealth to go around - the same goes for property.
I believe that the number of "haves" are increasing in relation to the number of "have nots"- mainly because of those who have made it as a result of "globalisation" or "e-commerce", but the gap between the two is widening.
We are heading towards a 2-tier society, and although politically I lean to the right, I'm starting to believe that before too long, a harsh socialist style of taxation may become necessary in order for Mr Average not to slip into the lower tier.

According to the libs- the middle class is too wealthy. It's getting harder to keep up because of the unnecessary taxes.

Yes, and it will get even more difficult in the future as America becomes a two-tiered society like you see in the Dominican Republic and Haiti today. Within the next generation, there will be a handful of the very, very rich, and (the rest of us) the very, very poor. The middle class will have been destroyed by the corrupt, greedy, incompetent, evil politicians in this country.

It's definitely getting harder if you are at the bottom of the middle class. I can't speak for those who are closer to the top.

For me it is getting better, though it is hard to tell if the class division is actually breaking the middle class in two. It looks more and more like there are just wealthy people and poor people.

Yes. I think many middle class people are very close to financial ruin in the event anything occurs that upsets their health or ability to work.
You have to wonder if other countries with medical care for all have it right. They certainly seem to have more compassion for their fellow beings.

It depends. If you managed to buy a house at a good price then its pretty good. If you are renting it sucks, cause its hard to save up deposit, no matter what your income, cause most of it goes on rent. What we need is cheaper rent and housing. Then kids would leave home earlier, get married and have kids earlier, and there would then be a better lifestyle for all.
